Im in the middle of a rather succesful game as NatChi.
Got unification after firing the fading sun event.

But as i was fighting the dastardly japanese, something irritated me. This was the second or third time such a thing happened to me...mengkuko was a fortress supplying well over 40 divisions.

I had planned to pin the chinese in inner mongolia and then eliminate the pocket, This would prove to be easy i thought, what with megkukuo's 6 IC of supplies which would never be enough.

Well, it seems like meng is able to supply those divisions rather easily. The Japs even started taking yuling threatening yanan. Then they went into Xibei and took a couple provinces there.

I had taken erenhot and jining from meng but their capital remained. I even waited a bit since it was winter but supplies were still coming in from somewhere...
Found that rather annoying and unrealistic.

Im not sure exactly how the meng creation works, maybe they get 100k supplies or something. (Checked through the events and it seems they dont get anything cept manpower.)

Would a Fall of mengkuko event work? Or Japan annexes mengkuko when low on vp?

Another thing, what happens if communist china is defeated in that short amount of time prior to xian incident?
Could that spark the warlords to side with kai shek?
Or would the defeat of the japanese still be crucial as it is now?

I think I did defeat the communists before Xi'an, you'll still get the United Front event, and it removes the hassle of a full civil war after JAP is defeated... For Mengkukuo, I've not touched its setup so I can't say for sure... It should be possible somehow to make it NOT a supply-making depot for JAP's holdout forces.

EDIT: Mengkukuo get annexed by CHI if the Fading Sun event fires... so when it does those JAP divisions will go back to Japan...

Yeah, i guess there shouldnt be an immediate bonus to killing commies. After all, killing commies is the bonus right?

The whole mengkuko thing just annoys me. I dont wanna wait till fading sun or ill miss out on removing a huge pocket of japanese. But its also unrealistic for meng to supply 1/3 of japan's forces. The country basically gets surrounded yet can still totally subsist despite being massively cut off from japanese supply lines.
Yeah, i dunno how to fix that either.

Hmm, and just an odd little happening ive run into. After getting fading sun, japan turns leninist, but gets couped. For some reason, they didnt get the coup and remained commies. Heh, odd...but convenient if i wanna get on the allies' (usa) good side. Killing commies is awalys well received in the international community.
I guess this odd happening could be related to my missing tech teams after unification (it just removed everything and didnt give me any others).
Turns out the tech team file was up to date for some reason.

About annexing ComChi...how about a dissent reduction?

How about a dissent reduction when you obliterate the commies, turn the warlords into your biatches, and drive the Japanese from China? :p

PS. You get a whopping 30 yes THIRTY dissent reduction when you defeat the commies in the civil war.

I'm thinking of making an Operation Ichigo battlescenario (1944) and an Operation Carbonado (post-A-bomb 1945) battlescenario... any suggestions/comments/orbathelp?

EDIT:Oh and v.4 once I figure out how to reliably stop the damned commies from rampaging across China with their uberl33t 1936 divisions of doom.

I'm afraid I've not been following the discussion here long enough to know if the following is a bug or WAD. Figure it's worth a brief AAR to explain:

Playing as ComChi (ie evil incarnate etc etc) I refuse the opportunity for Chiang's kidnap and enforced peace deal - the Nat Ai subsequently chooses not to go for a Unified Front. The Nats don't do too well against Japan (even though I don't touch their central industrial area) and actually agree to annexation very early on. Japs release them as a puppet, and after a reasonably hard fight I annex Nats and Manchukuo, and get the Fading Sun event in '42.

The oddity: I choose to 'humiliate' Japan, yet they get to keep Guangzhou (!), Hainan, Taiwan and some coastal territory near Jinan. I'm not that annoyed by it as I planned to finish the job with my brand new navy and air force in '44 anyway, but it does seem mighty odd to give parts of mainland China back to the Japanese aggressors.

Apologies if this is misdirected, and it's a Paradox event issue.

Oh, ok, well, the event doesn't account for the possibility that NatChi could have been annexed before it fires. I'll make appropriate changes. Thanks.

Quick follow-up: is anyone else having massive resource problems once they've united China (as CHC or other Chinese faction)? I have deficits of ~200 Coal, ~100 Metal, ~70 Rare a day. I have built about 40 additional factories, but that shouldn't cause such huge problems.

Is it possible I'm somehow getting full IC for my Chinese cores but only half resources? Or is China truly resource-crippled in this way?

If you've united china with ComChi and built those 40 factories face the fact that you probably have 40 + 40 X ( 0.20% [slider - Mao] + 0.15% [tech] + 0.10% [if you have resarched material science] + 5% or 10% [if you have He Yuandang or Cao Qiuru in your cabinet] ) = 62 total IC.
That's quite much.
Your second question - NO it's not possible to take only 50% resources and 100% IC from terrains you have claims on.
The last question - Yup, china is crippled and won't stand on it's feet unless you get the "Modernize Resource Production" event - but (and could Duke or Mib correct me if I am wrong and i probably am wrong) only NatChi gets this event.

And since we are talking about the "Modernize Resource Production" event - IMHO you should add:
Code:
technology = { country = CHI value = 5040 } # Agricultural Production
to the trigger. It's not necessary but it adds some flavour to the event and is quite economically true. Why? (oh my, oh my, why do I always ask this question and anwser it in the next sentence) Better agricultural techs -> better agricultural production -> less farmers needed to feed the population -> more workers in mines and factories.

No, CHC gets it too, it says so right here

Code:
##########################################
###CHC Resource modernization events
##########################################

There's actually quite a few events for it and even an alternate one if the SU does accept treaty of peace, security and friendship.I just didnt want to take up to much space. :p

Thanks for the replies - the Modernise Resource Producion event certainly hasn't happened to me yet, and it's great news that it exists at all. I take the point about my added IC - I was expecting a deficit, just not such a huge one.

NB Part of my problem is that despite the loss of almost it's entire army in China the Japanese still conducted the Pearl Harbour attack, meaning my resource trades with US/UK are at 50% efficiency). Strangely Japan actually did better in early 42 outside of China than I've commonly seen - annexed the Phillipines, Dutch East Indies, took Singapore, presumably because China was no longer a distraction.

Actually I was wondering if the successful annexation of the Nats fooled the AI into thinking it had 'won' China, and switched to Navy production? I'm into '44 with my own Navy almost ready, and they have yet to be crushed by the Americans.

The evil P'dox event is kinda insane. I had 263 base IC when I triggered it and had 561 available IC from it.

Where can I see the Paradox nerf? Because if 85% is the case, man that's really overpowered.
