Don't think this is bug but I'm confused

I had to reload everything due to virus.

Got CK working (I was going through withdraws)

Back to the game. Became Papal controler. Pope has prestige but I can't excommunicate anyone and I can lift the excommunication of anyone.

I can choose excomm or re com. I can see the list along with the Popes stats, but when I click on someone. nothing happens. No change in the Popes prestige, nothing.

Any Ideas?

You can only excommunicated rulers in CK 1.5 or DV.

Try saving and reloading. The PC options sometimes do not get properly set.

I've never tried this before so, when I'm at the list of people to excomm or lift excomm and I click a name, what should happen?

They should get the excommunicated trait, provided the Pope has equal or more prestige than the target's piety. The Pope will lose the prestige used for this.

Revoking excommunication works at any time and just removes the trait.
