I don't i know whether this is a bug or if it is working as designed, but I am only at war with the Kingdom of Abbysinia, while they are at war with a Muslim nation as well (attacked by holy war cb) so they have been joined by local myaphysite nations. The problem is that if i get them in a battle with the Abbysinians, the non-combatants in my war fight me for no reason, they're even sieging my land! Ruining everything.

Edit: Also, if you at war with a Jewish country, I don't think you shouldn't be allowed to borrow money from them

Common problem and one of the reasons why saving before war and reloading is completely valid option in CK2. Many times I attacked nation of my religion and his allies in defensive holy wars helped him in the battle against me.
It really doesn´t make sense, it´s just terrible mechanic. Reload or use console to imprison him, forcing the victory.
Unless, of course, you play Ironman, in which case I can only say: "Feels bad, man."

I don't think this is a bug, The army seem stacked (or grouped?) with the one of your enemy they would let their allies get attacked in front of them without doing anything.

I don't like the allied troops joining to siege you since they are allied against a holy war unrelated to you, otherwise yeah, it is working as designed. At the very least greyed troops should not be able to siege you by themselves, if that happens, that seems like a bug to me.

About the last point, I am curious, who are you playing?

I am playing Ironman; stops me from using the console (otherwise I'd just give myself loads of gold and buy all mercs) and I like to go for achievements.

Its just annoying, as I'm playing the Jewish duchy of Axum (1066 start) and was pressing all my claims on the duchy of wag, the county of Gondar and the Kingdom of Abyssinia. I'd managed to gain around 96% warscore, when one of the small Sunni realms smells weakness in Abyssinia and declares a holy war. This would not have made a difference if the other nearby realms didn't suddenly have the ability to attack me without even being hostile to me.

With the money lending, I just noticed that the King of Abyssinia owed money to Jewish money lenders. I just thought this was amusing.

Hmmm it may be a bug in the context of the game but if applied to reality it makes sense. An army arrayed isn't going to just step aside when an aspect is attacked. Know what I mean?

If you say it this way, then yes (and since he is Jewish, it makes sense for those armies to help him), but if you joined someone in war to defend your religion, how would you react if that someone used your armies to fight against some duke of the same religion, who tries to reclaim one of his counties? I would say "screw you" to that guy and widthrew my armies from the war. I am not his ally, I just came to defend my faith against infidels, so he should only use my army against those infidels.

So that's how the Venitian did it, they backed the Fourth Crusade, waited for the crusaders stack to follow their armies, and marched on Zara.
Clever of them to use such bug

This is not a bug. It is working as designed and is the only sensible way to manage this. How pissed off would you be if your allies just stood there and let you get slaughtered when they've joined up with your army?

I agree, it makes little sense for an ally army to just stand idle by while you are marching together. The only issue is that those armies that are attached need to be marked as hostile (red) to you instead of neutral.

They should become hostile, same as raiding scum. That would be sensible.

Good thought! It might help to reduce OP's frustration if it was more obvious that they would fight him.

Why would a holy order or temporary religious ally even stick around when you march your army away from the infidels to fight a coreligionist? Unless they actually have an alliance with you they should ditch your army and get back to the business they care about.

IMO the AI might need to evaluate whether it should un-link its army from the primary attacker/defender's stack from time to time. It would be nice to be able to make it impossible for AI stacks to link up with your armies sometimes, too. They can be a pain when you don't want them hanging around.

Regarding Jewish moneylenders... it's not like there's one unified Jewish (or Christian or Moslem or Pagan) government anywhere. The guys you're borrowing money off are your local subjects, not the International bank of Israel. They may be no fonder of a Jewish kingdom that you're at war with than you are. Short of expelling them, they'll deal.

yes this is a necro but people here say that it would be bad if an allied army just stood and watched you fight an enemy they aren't in a war against with you.
let's immerse ourselves in the situation
For the sake of immersion let's ignore that you are a jew and thus also a different religion guy. Especcialy since back in those days jews and christians in that area where living together and probably tolerated each other more so with the muslims expanding.

you are the king of abyssinia, you claim to be descended from salomon and rightful ruler of the entire area
I am the ?duke? of alodia your neighbour I am constantly in your shadow fearing that you grow strong enough to demand me to bend the knee at swordpoint
This is medieval europe (at least the game mechanics are supposed to imitate it, and so we get feudal africa) where the death of a king is reason enough to march on his lands and claim a few duchies (or maybe more) because reasons.
you are at war with a duke like me, your armies are crushed, good, I can now invade your land and take half the cake for myself.
suddenly your lands are assailed by heathens, demonspawn. Wait I'm sorry "YOUR" lands? You cannot defend your peole from a mere infidel and you call yourself a king of these lands? No I'm taking them but I don't want a burning pile of ash to rule over.
So I go beat the infidels (plus the priests were pestering me all day to save our brothers in faith so maybe now they will go quiet). we march together like bff's and beat them to a pulp .
suddenly your army is attacked by the same duke you were at war with before those infidel shenanigans.
Do you think I will help you? Do you think I have any reason to help you?(as said above we ignore the christian vs jew problem)
Maybe . Maybe I will. but first I hear out the propositions of both sides and hear what they can offer.
So what can offer me the king of abyssinia who is on the verge of losing his throne? And can his offer beat the one that the duke of axum, who seeks to take the throne of abyssinia for himself, has for me?
