I love Paradox and have purchased every nearly every title they have released. I was on Steam and thinking about which version of Planetfall I was going to purchase and at the bottom of the page that compares the versions there was a line that said previous owners of Age of Wonders get 10% off. I jumped at the expensive version knowing that I would probably buy all the dlc anyway and that 10% off didn't hurt either.
When I checked out, I did not get the discount. I immediately sent a message about it to Steam, including a screen shot of their 10% off offer, and continued to play and enjoy my game. The response I got, the next day was that that deal was only for pre-order, even though the offer I screen shotted didn’t state that and was still on the site after the game was live, and this:
“Please let us know if you need help with a refund should you prefer not to own this game at the full price.”
I want the game and I want them to honor their 10% off offer. If they refuse to do that, then yes I wanted a refund.
Today, I got a message that said they wouldn’t refund my money because I had more than two hours played.
I have been a loyal customer of Steam for years with more than a hundred purchases. I told them I will no longer be using Steam for my purchases. They do not honor the information on their site and then offer and then renege on a refund.
I don't blame Paradox, and don't really want them to do anything except maybe have a conversation with Steam about not ripping of their customers. It's a great game, buy it, just not on Steam.
