And I do believe type = 7 / id 3500 references a conflicting event id that exists between two different files. We really need to get this cleaned up before I would even consider starting to mod the individual AIs.

ESE and supply routes are calculated differently in AoD than in HoI2, so that explains to horrible ESE for the Domination in certain provinces.

To improve the ESE, pick out a line of provinces going through (or two lines) the Middle East into Domination-held China and improve those provinces to 80% INFRA to simulate the rail lines, highways, and air travel. That should ease up on the ESE issues quite a bit.


I would make it 90% minimum, probably 100% and add a couple more IC along the route.

I have got it to 70-80 + Deep Logistics (which took > 1.5 years to research, BTW - maybe give Draka the blueprint at start?) and the best supplied China provinces are still Pinkish.

I can also check USSR transfers to the interior if you tell me which event file they're in (can only find the ones for China, which are not used?). Should I use the events in use or the versions in "back for testing" sub folder?

Parts of the routes look sort of counter-intuitive but I chose them by giving troopps movement orders and following them, which should pick the optimum travel time.

My conclusion is that either you give much higher starting infr (maybe 100) to the Mid East-China route + the Deep Logistics starting tech, or you need to add IC to Central/East Asia (I realize you were discussing doing the opposite, removing it).

Africa's infrastructure needs to be improved pretty much everywhere. With the exception of the Sahara and the Congo, the Domination had pretty major travel routes through Africa well established by 1936.

I'm not in favour of giving the Domination much in the way of IC in Central Asia because of the fact they simply did not have much in that region. It was mostly resource gathering for them there as their industry was very well established in Africa.

Improving the infrastructure in Central Asia is most certainly possible.

I just got done editing the map so the USSR and Japan have more of their old territory and China respectively. That boosted Soviet base IC to 136 and Japan's to 213 (a tad much I would think) whilst making the Domination's 161. Who is up for discussing resource/IC distribution?

I've been toying with the map and IC distribution. I have the Soviets at ~170, Japan at ~150, and the Domination at ~220 base IC. The only real resource issues are oil (for everyone minus America and the Domination of course), rares for Europe (not a surprise), and the Domination is lacking about 100 energy.

Playtest alpha 0.13 update:

1/ Yes energy is a problem. I wouldn't have been able to build anything if I didn't trade rares for energy with Germany, Poland and Japan. Readme says not to do it and I haven't read the books (though got "Marching Through Georgia") but that seems quite stupid. Yes, they are 'inferior' but if refusing to trade means crippling your war preparations?

In the mean time I'm advancing in nuclear tech so I might have nuclear plants for energy in '44 perhaps.

2/ Nationalist Spain won the Civil War.... make sure it doesn't happen by boosting communist contribution?

3/ Italy declared war on Greece. Romania and Yugoslavia joined. It turned into a stale-mate on the border of Romania, Yugoslavia hanging on to 3-4 provinces defended by rivers. Italy was never able to break into Greece.

4/ Germany gobbled up Czechoslovakia in '38 and the lower most of the Baltic states (Lithuania?). The remaining states are fascist and allied, and I think perhaps allied with Finland too (post-Winter War) but not sure.

5/ Around May '39 WW2 broke out, actually Poland had allied to Britain-Australia-France axis and France was the one to declare war on Germany.

6/ Germany early on allied with Japan (and their puppets Slovakia/Siam), Japan quickly gobbled up Britain's East Asian territories + Indochina. During 1940 they had most of India and the Dutch indies and nearly all of Papua New Guinea. They had about three Australia continental provinces but were pushed back.

Japan now has all of mainland Asia which is not controlled by me or the Soviets. Britain looks really weak.

7/ Soviets failed to take any significant Finnish territory, but still got "we'll settle for what we asked".

8/ Italy partition fired - event said something about "annexation of Greece" though Greece was perfectly healthy and uninvaded, and still at war along with Romania/Yugoslavia. I was given a few days warning and got ready.

I only had one land province bordering Italian gains (a few pixels wide, actually, and that province had recently been Greek-Yugoslav) and poured into that. I also blockaded Taranto and amphibiously invaded it with Light Tanks... the only thing available, but Germany was gobbling up northern Italy fast and I needed to get a foothold.

Then amphibiously invaded Sicily with tanks, but a few hours late (Germany divisions landed first). Germany also got Sardinia.

In Italy itself I could only get to Cassino, Germany arrived in Rome just before me. In the Balkans I got southern Yugoslavia and Albania. Greece obviously is to the south of me and I'll have to DOW them later.

Then the partition event triggered, and I got a lot more territory from the Germans than they got from me. About 15 tank/motorized divisions for some reason were automatically redeployed to Archona crippling my TC.

Italy created Croatia which has a single province in it's interior for some reason owned by me (I'll check what it's name is).

9/ Generally, Japan looks uber-strong and a big threat since it surrounds the worst supplied of my regions and has a base to attack my heartlands from Pakistan. Nofog tells me they have around 370 divisions, navy 130 (tied with me), and 90 (!!!) air units... 25 of them naval bombers. Japan IC is 190ish base (tied with me), 280ish effective (less than me).

Germany also has around 300 divisions (25ish armor), 50 or so air, and 40ish naval units. Their effective IC is in the 400s (I think over 450 now).

Rest of Axis = Hungary, Slovakia, Croatia, Siam. Romania is NS but still allied to Greece which is SC.

Soviets IC is in the upper 250s effective, but they have 370 or so divisions (just more than Japan) and armor, a tiny fleet and a decent airforce (30-ish?)

The "Allies" = Britain + Australia are pitiful apart from navy. Britain has 35-40 total divisions (pocketed in India?) while Australia has 25 or so, total air force probably upper 30s. I saw Britain go down to 70 effective IC at one point, I am guessing from resource loss.

America hasn't done anything except elect the Republican historical prez choice.

With all the Infrastructure building my army is lagging way behind. 150-ish divisions (just over 90 infantry), boosted my navy to 130 (built 4 modern carriers, 2 light, 2 BC and 1 SHBB), airforce lower 40s (mainly CAS/TAC/INT split). Will have to invest heavily in infantry for the next year.

My basic infantry org is mid/upper 80s which I think must match the nazis.

I also got the Rocket tech tree early, got the Flying Bomb in mid 40 and have built 10 V1s so far. They appear totally useless since the max range is greater than any potential target from any of my airbases and my aim is to expand. Got the first nuclear tech (allowing me to build reactors) in 1940 and built a nuclear test plant.


So:

SCW - make sure Communists win
Axis - make sure Japan doesn't join - BIG game changer.
Italian wars - make sure events reflect reality, if Italy hasn't annexed Greece, perhaps give opportunity to Draka player to (under guise of "peace keeping forces" perhaps?)
Italy partition - should make more sense. Either borders will be what each conquered or Germany shouldn't send invasion fleets to Sicily.

I am inclined to place more energy in the Zimbabwe, Persian Gulf, and Central Asian regions. Any ideas?

Look at the resource distribution in the modern day mod. It might give you an idea I think...

Just read upon Wiki and the timeline provided there. It got me so interested that I immideatly went out and order me a copy of some novels by mr Stirling!

If there's any easy task (mainly gfx though, even if I can do elsewise) that doesn't take time, but could spare you some workload, send me a pm.. But beware though, I'm off until wednesday evening.
