I started a campagin as Castille in 1444 with the intention of becoming Holy Emperor from the very start. To do so, I allied Burgundy and started a "no cb"- war on Austria which was allied to some electors.

Now, I expected to vassalize all of the 3 electors that Austria had an alliance with. The thing is, I couldn´t even vassalize a 3-Province weak Brandenburg.
Here is where I miss something and need you guys to teach me how it works ;)

The Wiki states in the Warfare Section:

Province cost

Each province that changes control in a peace deal requires the victor to pay a corresponding cost in warscore. That factors that influence each province's warscore cost are:

Base: 5 per province.
Tax value: 2 per province base tax.
Manpower: 0.03 per province manpower, rounded up to the nearest integer.
Trade power: 0.2 per base trade power.
Fort level: +5% for each fort level beyond 1.
Local autonomy: -1% per point.
Size of nation: -1% per 15 base tax of nation, excluding buildings.

The fort level, local autonomy, and size of nation factors are applied multiplicatively.

Now, from starting point, BRA has the following:

Ruppin
Base Tax: 5
Manpower: 21
Trade Power: 1.2
Fort Level: 2
Local Autonomy: 0
--> (5+5*2+21*0.03+1.2*0.2)*1.05 = 17

Brandenburg
Base Tax: 7
Manpower: 121
Trade Power: 1.2
Fort Level: 2
Local Autonomy: 0
--> (5+7*2+121*0.03+1.2*0.2)*1.05 = 25

Potsdam
Base Tax: 6
Manpower: 86
Trade Power: 1.2
Fort Level: 2
Local Autonomy: 0
--> (5+6*2+86*0.03+1.2*0.2)*1.05 = 21

This gives a total of 63 Cost.
No I need 128 Warscore to vassalize them. Where does that *2-Multiplier come from ? Is it because I started a no cb-war?

Thanks a lot

Any actions involving secondary enemies who don't have co-belligerent status cost double the warscore in 1.8, so it's completely WAD that a Brandenburg that would normally cost 63% warscore to vassalise instead costs 126% to vassalise when it's not a co-belligerent.

If you'd declared war on Brandenburg, vassalising it would only have required 63% warscore.

Allright yeah. I must have somehow overseen that new rule. Thanks FreeSoc

No problem!

Of course, the downside of making them a co-belligerent in a war against Austria, or attacking them directly, is that they get to call all of their *own* allies to the party as well as Austria's.
