"Dogs of War" ~ NA Game

Was an alright session for Spain. Thanks for England's civil war, there was enough time to reform the Spanish military and build up the fleet before the war finally started.

Since of all the nations involved, Spain was the only one without decent leaders or military tech, my only real acts were to fight the English and Swedish navies. I won't say "fight" regarding the German navy, since those rowboats didn't really do anything but sink . So the naval war with England and Sweden went underway with few decisive battles, though the Swedish fleet was battered pretty bad in a few.

Finally we won a huge battlel with English and Swedish ships in the channel. killing about half their fleet. We held the seas after that until France was forced to peace out.

In NA, the battle went back and forth around the Mississippi Basin. Lots of skirmishes with 10-15k. Toward the end Spain began to get the upper hand here. The Caribbean meanwhile was being occupied by English troops at the beginning of the war, but when I finally sent a fleet of 75 warships down the lost islands were taken back, along with most of England's own islands in the Carribean.

I wanted to get Guangdong from England, but that can wait til later. Peace was signed for 5 of the Carribean islands, which will be handed over to Portugal now.

Things turned out very nice for Spain. Economy improved relative to neighbors, and the navy is now easily the strongest in the world. The army is a little behind in tech, but that'll be fixed once I'm done teching infra 9.

With Franz coming in 1520, Spain is going to be a force to be reckoned with.

Anyway, Dooooooomah and Drake need to stop fucking around along the Danube and turn West. John didn't think twice about taking Mexico when Venice had only just finished war with Prussia, and he won't think twice next time around either.

I think the real European threat is Pibe's Prussia now. It combined with Sweden and England handily beat the French. And that was with a marginal leader advantage. Think of how it'll be when Prussia has Frederick! France has few decent leaders to stand up to him. It'll fall like it did today, and then Prussia will have a free hand again to fight Venice, Poland, or whoever it wants. There won't be anything to stop it then. Is that what you want?

EDIT: OK, so what's the punishment for HG no-showing without warning? 5-10 inflation seems to be the going rate in other games.

We don't have such a rule. If you want to make one for after this, sure. Losing a big war and 1000D yearly income for this session was plenty.

They currently have 3 times the incomes of The Protestant League, a lot more manpower and imo 2 much better generals in HG and KJ. We need Venice and Poland to join us.

This alliance isn't going to last that long. HG and I have already talked about splitting up later, though that may have to be postponed in light of the setbacks today.

I'm not saying Cheech didn't do a good job, but anyone coming back to a nation that fell like this while subbed is going to think their country would've done better had they been there. And that thought is enough to regret missing a session.

Regardless though, there isn't going to be an inflation penalty this time because there's no rule in place for that.

Was a poor session for the pols at best, spent around 65% of my income going to BB in sets of 50-80 a month while the rest was put into my military to keep the otts out of his backyard, next session will be a lot more internaly focused for me, I hope. its going to take me 10 years to pull out of this ressesion.

To rebuild my navy will cost about 35k which I diont have and wont have if we get into another huge war. Prussia doesnt concern me he cant touch England, what concerns me is the huge French navy and all that MP, he can hit me on the home isles so easily and Marlborough is almost finished...

You should take a look at the leaderfiles. Frederick is coming before Napoleon. By the time Nappy comes along France along with the rest of Europe may already be German. Pibe's Prussia even looks like Nazi Germany after the Anchluss . Can't you see it?

As for Spain ruling the seas, iirc my naval support is quite a bit lower than England's or Sweden's, or even Venice's and the OE's should they ever tech up naval. Sure, my navy is the biggest now but the rest of you will rebuild soon.

The French fleet is half galleys. I don't see why you're worried about that.

And what's 35kd? 5 years income for you at the most. The Spanish king using 1000d banknotes as napkins when he eats. We know that's not a lot of money.

Frankly, despite Marly dying in a decade, England still has the best leaderfile for this century of anyone. And plenty of good admirals as well. Once you build up to support, we're going to be quite outgunned against the Eng + Swe duo.

We'd have been doomed if you and England worked more closely together in the last war. The fact that I was able to fight your low tech ships alone and decimate your fleet was what allowed us to win the naval war. I'm sure you won't make the same mistakes again, which is why the world should be more worried about the Anglo-Swedish naval war machine.

Hmmm, Sweden obviously doesn't care about its European neighbors. Though, this will come back to bite you when it really does happen. A Prussia controlling mainland Europe, including France, Venice, the OE and Spain will be able to scrounge the resources for a fleet to use against Sweden.

But of course the Anglo-Swedish naval machine would probably be too much for this even. Be that as it is, he might just find a way to attack you through Russia. Wouldn't that be a surprise .

Russia signed a NAP with Sweden until 1739 and gave me 4.5k for those Finland provinces. We're not interested to let's pass anybody on our territory without some contribution.

In any case, Due to present diplomacy, and consedering we have a sick England (sorry LE, but your behavior starts to annoy me) and an aggressive Oe (including the venetian dog), I would like to reach to an agreement with Spain in order to make a new crusade, the 4th, this time an effective one, with my military support.
Also I do think France is respectful, a very good opponent. It's not that crazy if I say I like it. if we can't be allias, at least we could agree about a maximum province per war pact. Let's say 3 or 4 per war. this will avoid to destroy each other in single wars, and will bring flexibility in order to fight our opponents, like the OE/venetian hilarious and opportunistic intervention.
The German Age has begun. You should respect little Prussia now, change your mind and stop believing I'm a mad fascist looking for total destruction in Europe, that's not logical. I'm open to discuss everything, just Pm me.
