Because otherwise Venice would have about.... 0 leaders?
I agree that Venice could survive if they gave up one of them, though.

King John said:Yeah, Poland should keep an eye on Pibe. It should stop competing my merchants out of Moscow too
.
Just Too Uber said:Keeping an eye on Pibe won't do any good, the only thing that'll save Crusader at this point is allying with Duma (or at least that's how things look).
King John said:It's mostly trade, LE, which is also the main reason Spain is atm the wealthiest nation in Europe.
Lady Europa said:France has a choice to make, either he retains England as an ally and ditches spain or he ditches me and keeps spain, he can't have both cos ENgland and Spain are gonna come to blows very shortlyI will not slip quietly into 3rd place on incomes ladder

King John said:Or with France, Venice or Sweden, I suppose.
Lady Europa said:I see in the stats that my trade incomes are about a third of France and Spains? how can that be? I get the max merchants per year I have high trade effeciency and 5 monopolies so how can my incomes be lagging so far behind???
never played a heavy trading power beforeand on Above Normal I felt like I was always 1 step behind the game, it was too fast for me to be sending merchants, colonists and building imporvements all at once

King John said:You should look for cots that have an open space instead of always sending 3 merchants to clear your own opening. It makes your merchant placement a bit more efficient. Since I've been doing that and HG's probably been doing that, with us both also having 12 merchants per year, we've had a bit of an edge on you.
HolisticGod said:John,
I gotta hand it to you, I didn't think your plan would pay off. But it has. In spades.
Though of course, I think it's absolutely vital that France be either weak or Reformed. It would never have worked if I'd been Catholic. Without the monetary advantage, Spain would've been dismembered.
But in this specific game, it's worked wonders.
Just Too Uber said:Personally, it occurs to me I would have a bigger trade income if Ganges and Johor weren't TI for me.
Just Too Uber said:Alright, I'm still confused as to what has happened.
Spain allowed itself to be shitkicked and vassalized by you so he would become your most valuable ally and have your support forever and ever and ever, to the extent where he could in a small way dictate alliance policy?
King John said:Heh, well I'm grateful those places at least have been void of the extra competition so far.
King John said:I think he was talking about my dealings with Venice, where I gave him my gold provs in NA to avoid the bankruptcy events.
Just Too Uber said:Oh, good, because as I edited into the above quoted post, my theory of what happened seemed really whacked out and crazy.
So, I am right in assuming that you didn't willingly accept vassalization, but after a while you just decided to make the best of it?
