I'm not sure if there's a bug floating around, but I'm having a serious drug problem in my prison. I have assigned 4 dog patrols at an outdoor jail door choke point. All prisoners pass through and not one of the dogs make the sniffing sound effect. The little dog sniffing icon doesn't come up either.
Bizarrely, the one dog handler I have assigned at the entrance is sniffing items coming through the main gate.

It's becoming extremely difficult the amount of drugs getting in and every evening I face several overdoses.

I have disabled my mods and I'm still getting the same issue.

Just wondering if anyone else has the same issue, confirm it is a bug or know of a solution.

Many thanks

There are a variety of ways your prisoners can get drugs from inside your prison: Visitation, the Infirmary, and contraband can be thrown a maximum of 10 tiles over a fence (measured from the outermost insecure area). Visitation is easily solved with secure visitation booths, and stationing guards in your infirmary will help prevent sticky fingers. Use a double line of fence 8 tiles apart to keep inmates away from the boundaries.

I can make some specific suggestions for you if you can show a few screenshots of your prison.

Problem with dogs not sniffing prisoners might be caused by mods. Do you have any installed? Is so, list them here please.

I think your game works fine tho and they don't sniff because they are on cooldown. Yes, you heard me right. In short - dogs have a cooldown of sniffing the same prisoner / object. So, if they get sniffed by one dog, for example before entering the room and they stay in that room for a few secs - they won't be sniffed again when they go out because of that cooldown.

In my opinion this is really dumb mechanic in the game because it allows prisoners to steal drugs from infirmary, offices, cleaning cupboard etc. and makes dog patrols in these areas pointless.
To make it to work so prisoners are sniffed only when they leave the room (with all the stolen contraband) you would have to design it so they walk in through one door/corridor and walk out through another one where a doggo is.
