Does your protectorate join the enemy?

So I have one of these silly protectorates in Asia. I always thought protectorates can't have allies - at leas that's what the toolbox said when I created the protectorate. Anyways, so Champa, my protectorate, is allied with Benga, Sukothai and Ming. I am planing on declaring war on Bengal next. They are allied with Punjab and Champa. If Champa joins the war with Bengal then Champa becomes war leader against their overlord. Then they would most likely call in Ming who then becomes war leader..

Yes they do join. I just played a game with Lithuania and Kazan was my protectorate. I declared war on the Mamaluks and they were allied to Kazan unfortunately Kazan also declared war even thou they were my protectorate and should not do that.

Well I decided to try it out and Champa did indeed become war leader against me.
This is silly.. And what is even more silly is that I could not ally Champa because they were my protectorate lol.

Oh well let's go kill some peasant soldiers..
