Does tree size determine the tree's noise blocking ability?

I think Tree density matters more then tree size, the more trees in a location the better the effect, don't believe there is a difference in effect in size, for example, a palm, a redwood or an oak are all different size trees, different foliage etc but in terms of sound blocking they all do the same job. A big cluster of them will do better sound reduction then a thin line.

Ive never really noticed it TBH, and i go for the cut into forest look, its very minor and just know any amount of noise pollution will upset res no matter how much forest is there. You may think you get away with it, but then res hits lvl4/5 and dies.
Id also expect the trees to be on the same rules as forestry, and not all trees will provide a sound buffer. (so the ones that provide forestry plot/die in water vs the pretty ornamental ones)
The desirability they add is noticeable but the sound buffer is a false sense of security
