I may have missed it, but I found no information in regards to this. Does the AI also use favors with the player to call into war or do they get a pass?

I don't think so. Player's and AI are handled differently, for example a player can decide (via check-mark) to be called into offensive wars or not in exchange for yearly favours.

EDIT: Obviously I though so but I was wrong.

Yes, the AI can't call a player offensively without spending favors or promising land.

could we get some indicator that tells us whether they are calling in a favor or promising land? because I would like to know when they call me in
What would be kind of cool (in a future expansion\patch) is a bit of back and forth negotiation between allies prior to one of them declaring a war. A graphic showing each of the 'warring' nations allies, whether they will be joining the war and what land if applicable they have been promised. And also showing the countries that would join on the other side (if the war were declared at that point in time)

Thanks, that's good to know! So I assume there is a trust slider that is invisible to the player with our nation's trust towards them, in case they promise us land but don't give enough.

I'm still not sure what actual value trust has. I pressed a button a few times to make it go up and then I felt like I wasted my favors.

That may be why I noticed not getting called in wars as frequently as compared to pre-1.14. Playing England, I saw that my ally Brandenburg declared an offensive war but never called me in. Same goes for my ally Byzantium. I wanted to join the war but there is no way to do it. Could we at least get an option to offer joining their war someday?

+1. Totally agree!

Sometime I want to join an offensive war to support my Allies without any kind of rewards past prestige and ducats. It would help to be able to do this so AI can gain favors in exchange for our help.

Sometime the AI will just flat out refuse to accept our help even when we want to... Sometime the only option is to declare a second war on the same target which isn't ideal.

Enforce peace need to be revamp along the new favor system so they can be used together.

Does the AI accumulate favors faster or do they start with some right after the alliance is made? In my Papal State game I allied Venice and they asked me to join their offensive war against Albania already in 1445 while I had 0-1 favors with them. Or is there something I have understood wrong here? :)

I think you need to combine trust with prepare for war to get anything out of it. I have this 97 trust ally that refuses to go to war if it's not in an adjacent region, or even on the far side of an adjacent region. At least it's the hope I've built myself up to thinking about that campaign today. Haven't used prepare for war enough to know if it's capable of overpowering the distance malus.

Edit: Welp, apparently Prepare for War modifier is +10 and 97 trust is +47, but the distance from Thatta to Chanda (playing in India) modifier is -78

I think it has to do with your attitude modifier. I am guessing you have it on automatic and you are on friendly term with them? Venice see that as a sign that you will accept the CtA anyway even if they don't have any trust in the first place.

Yes, the AI can't call a player offensively without spending favors or promising land.

But my Castile made an ally with France for only two years.

How could they call me into an offensive war toward Provance which I didn't make any interest on it's province.

It's ridiculous France have my 10 favor points or promising province for me.

Also it is WAD that players without Cossacks get the notification that their allies owe them favours after a war? Does this influence the old trust system or is it just unnecessary "feature"?
