Does the ai get smarter the closer it is to the player?

The only way the AI "gets smarter" when it's closer to you is if you 1) make it your vassal and micromanage its units and 2) you're better at controlling units than the AI.

I can't imagine any game, ever, that holds back on its AI in this particular fashion. Making even a decent AI is pretty hard, so if one does so why deliberately write an inferior one?

There are all sorts of oddities with the AI's actions when it comes to Manchuria. I made a thread a couple of months back trying to get help figuring out why the hell is did some of the things it did when I was playing as Yeren. It certianly gave me the impression that the AI was targetting me, as a human player, over other AIs, even when it was clearly in their interest to be attacking the other AIs instead. Now, I do trust Wiz when he says that the AI isn't programmed to go for the human, but I'm pretty sure that something off, whether deliberate or not, in that part of the world.

In my experience, the other Jurchens tend to gang up on Yeren anyway, since it is a different religion from them; and it borders all three of Jianzhou, Haixi, and Korchin, whereas Korchin and Jianzhou only border Yeren and Haixi.

(Haixi borders all of the others, but they're quite a bit richer than Yeren and they tend to immediately ally Korea, hence they have much greater survivability.)

I haven't seen your savegame of course, but it sounds like it wasn't the AI ganging up on a human, it just was the predictable AI behavior of ganging up on Yeren.

2) The AI grows more intelligent by feeding off the brain-waves of nearby human nations.

That's absurd. The distance to nation cannot affect how easily it can feed off your brainwaves. (Though leaning back in your chair does!)

3) You accidentally Skynet and it's just trolling us.

Yes, but only if your webcamera is on and directed at your head.

Does it matter if you are wearing clothes? ex. The thickness of the material/density/composition altering the amount of waves in/out?

So if I was wearing a parka I'd be better against the A.I. than if I was wearing a small t-shirt? Would applying sunblock help?

I've started several games as Jianzhou before I just took Haixi, and its very simple. In 4 out of 5 games, Korea rivaled Jianzhou and Japan, while Haixi always rivals Jeren, Korchin and Jianzhou. So Haixi and Korea ally up with each other, while most often Jianzhou and Korchin ally as well. Jeren is a different religion and gets no allies. Only in one game Korea rivaled Jianzhou and Haixi instead of Japan, which led to a different situation. But its the same in every corner of the world, the beginning (more or less random) choose of AI rivals predetermines hugely how the first decades play out.

So if a human player is in the area, the input information of the AI is different simply because the human acts differently. The AI still uses the same parameters to find solutions to situations, only the presence of a human in a region leads to different situations.

Well, let's not forget that a human acts differently in the game than an AI. So if a human player is in the area, the input information of the AI is different simply because the human acts differently. The AI still uses the same parameters to find solutions to situations, only the presence of a human in a region leads to different situations.

In other words, human gets bored and declares large (and thus fun) war while manpower is still recovering. AI sees low manpower etc. as weakness and attacks.

I discussed in this thread: https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/foru...yeren-is-the-ai-biased-against-humans.840108/. Ganging up on Yeren right from the start makes sense. Haixi attacking Yeren ahead of Jianzhou when the latter has had its army and economy wrecked (neither had allies, both were Haixi's rivals) doesn't. The issue was that the AI would attack me even though it was vastly more beneficial for them to attack the other AI, as it would have been a far easier fight that would have left them with higher tax same religion land, instead of piss poor wrong religion land. And the behaviour wasn't a one off, I restarted several times and exactly the same thing occurred. If the Ai isn't biased to attack humans, then its decision making in situations like that is poor. To be fair, I do suspect it's the latter as I don't see any reason for Wiz to be lying about this.

Over nine hundred hours here and basically beyond succession war(which they always contest no matter how stupid, any chance of fixing?) the AI pretty much never attacks me. I can't even recall a dozen times and that is taking into accounting the wars declared within the first few years where I haven't done much yet.

Although you didn't mention in the thread whether Haixi had any claims on your provinces, or what provinces the AI "wanted" in the relations tooltip. That can cause the AI to get tunnel vision, and it's pretty murky how those "wants" are actually determined province-by-province, AFAIK.

I discussed in this thread: https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/foru...yeren-is-the-ai-biased-against-humans.840108/. Ganging up on Yeren right from the start makes sense. Haixi attacking Yeren ahead of Jianzhou when the latter has had its army and economy wrecked (neither had allies, both were Haixi's rivals) doesn't. The issue was that the AI would attack me even though it was vastly more beneficial for them to attack the other AI, as it would have been a far easier fight that would have left them with higher tax same religion land, instead of piss poor wrong religion land. And the behaviour wasn't a one off, I restarted several times and exactly the same thing occurred. If the Ai isn't biased to attack humans, then its decision making in situations like that is poor. There is no need to accuse anyone of lying, I totally agree.

However, the AI behavior is exactly how you described, that is a fact, so if it's not WAD it means there is some sort of mistake about the system the AI uses to prioritize enemies.

These forums desperatly need an "Ironic" button on posts to go with the "Informative", "Agree" and "Disagree" ones. Sometimes, they give me the impression of being used mainly by AIs still failing their Turing tests; perhaps having an indication that a number of (human/better AIs) posters have marked a post as "Ironic" helps them in reacting accordingly.
