hey guys

i asked my self something about battleplan feature, as now it seems it is only useable for offensives but for example for france it would be the best to stay at your positions at the maginot line

is there still a way to get the planing bonuses when just staying in your provinces?

I think you get a bonus by having a plan, you don't have to execute it.
You can also have fallback plans, which tells where you want your units to hold the line.

I remember reading podcat saying you only get combat bonus during offensive plans

Edit: He also mentioned that you get entrenched while on the defensive anyway to compensate. Maybe the bonus would be too great

In my understanding the battle plan bonus is only offensive. Entrechment is the defensive bonus.

Well now wait a minute, do we have confirmation that you don't have defensive battleplans?

We do know that you can draw a line on the border where you want your soldiers to form a front and we do know you can establish fallback lines.

Wouldn't forming a pre selected line with a plan in place to fall back to a 2nd line still count as having a battle plan?

Podcat has posted an answer to me in the battleplaner dairy that defensive battleplans (fall back line) does not give a battleplan bonus. The entrenchment is the defensive bonus.

Thank you for the confirmation. It's a shame you dont get a little bonus for having a pre planned fall back plan. Somthing along the lines of maybe getting your entrenchment bonus maxed out faster when you fall back as you already planned to do so.

Perhaps in a future dlc.

as far as i understand the fallback plan it is also part of the offensive plan. it is a line that the AI will fall back to if needed but it will push forward until that time.

This answers an important question for me like "is it better to place units by myself e.g.in France for defense or should I trust the AI to distribute defensive units".

So now I would place them myself without fear they might be having a disadvantage and just issue defense plans to mobile firebrigade units (which have to attack anyway).
