Does religion change if Pretender Ruler is of Different religion?

I'm doing an Ottoman playthrough and a Pretender Rebel King with decent stats came up. However, it says he's of Greek descent and Orthodox faith. Will the nation's religion change if he is of different faith?
Note: Playing with base EU4

Nope. Your state faith will remain Sunni, however the "King's" faith will be exactly what it states, Orthodox.

I tested. You were right. Provinces with Turkish and Sunni do take a hit with unrest and -5 missionary strength. Also the ruler can be converted to Sunni but takes -2 stability.

IIRC there's also an event chain that allows you to change your country's religion or main culture to your ruler's one, meaning you could flip to Orthodox for example later on if you want to.

Really? Do you happen to know the event IDs? I've never heard of these events.

I amn't exactly too sure about the event ID's, but I've had them happen several times; in my last Oman -> Mughals campaign I had an event fire where I could flip from Hindustani to Yemeni, my ruler's culture.

I've never seen it myself (it's at the end of an event chain), but I've once seen Spain flip to Andalusian and Delhi flip to Afghan (and proptly forming the Mughals).
