I prefer to have more conquest points overall and a steeper ramp up. I'm fine with 51-49, but the next step should be before 58-42. I find comebacks often involve a rout of the enemy forces, giving the coming back force 70+% of the map. Complete domination at the end of C should be rewarded more. If the +2 bracket was moved to 55-45, and the later brackets also shifted down, with +10 at the exteme, and conquest points to reach moved to 3000 we'd get more reward for complete domination, with small gains still being rewarded.

Another idea I've seen floated that I quite like is different victory point incomes for different phases. Phase A could give no points at all, for example. That would make Phase A about recon and establishing a strong forward line. The victor of the game would be determined by performance in B and C. Phase A decks would still be strong as defending is easier than attacking, and they'd probably be getting points all through B.

Finally... there's always the "who holds most land at 40 minutes" condition. I honestly think that would be a very good victory condition. It makes sense and means that the benefit of strong early divisions is that you can be the defender later on in the game. It's quite a big change, but I think it would be interesting.

I like that last one a lot.

Is it just me or does phase A "recon" last too long?

I often run out of useful units before phase B and relatively early in phase C the game is over...

I think the phases system is stupid to begin with. A better idea would be to have three phases, allow all units to be purchasable immediately, but then lower the prices of the B and C units as the phase shift occurs.

Wow, that is not a bad idea.
Higher Cost in Phase A for B and very High Cost in Phase A for C units.

But from beeing with EUGEN for 4 years: I dont think at this point of development we will see any change with phase lenghts or the general way the phase system works.
We will also not see a dynamic option system to change any of this in the vanilla games.
We can only hope that a popular mod will draw enough players to make it playable in multiplayer.

I think what might happen if phase C becomes more of a thing is the absolute weakness of the non 17-lber forces against panthers and king tigers in long games.

This wouldndt be a problem if the game wouldnt be developed around a (very boring) 40 minutes window.

That is the real problem here and a problem that will not be fixed by the devs anytime soon or like ever.
Again, in this regard we can only hope for mods to deal with that.

I don't really understand what the phases are supposed to represent. The game gives a specific year. So it's not like each match is supposed to represent multiple years of conflict. Thus all the equipment would have been readily available at the same time. Sure you'd send scouts ahead of your lines. But when actual combat begins, you wouldn't have your best equipment miles and miles away.

I don't see how extending the game helps the forces that can't deal with those units.

I was playing the 15th scots in one game and I was able to push the enemy hard at phase A and we manage to gain around 58% of the map phase B is where the balance of power shifts because the germans have a large arsenal of just game breaking arty range (sk18s looking at you) and LOTS of Rocket artillery with napalm to push you into submission. Come phase C where the Tiger 2s arrive and push me back hard with heavy arty support. Every 17pdr that ever fired was immediately focused on by a barrage of rockets along with ju88s which couldnt be stopped by AA. The last few minutes were fruitless for the enemy though because even if we only had 46% of the map the points were in our favor. Should they have gotten 10 more minutes they would have definitely won because I was literally running out of AT weapons to respond with.
