My last couple runs have seen a bot controlled Ming that survives right through to end game. Am I just seeing a fluke here? Or is this happening in other peoples' games?

I like it when the game defies history, it can be fun, but specific deviations shouldn't be consistent. That's my take.

Peoples' observations seem to vary. For me, it seems usually stable. Though not 100% the same every game. The only game I really paid attention to it was a Manchu game, where Ming got 10+ war exhaustion just from attacking Oirat with 4 allies. It had rebels all over before I was at 300 dev, and before I jumped it. It still wasn't enough to actually implode Ming, but a couple nations in South China did break free.

They used to "blow up" in previous versions of the game, it was called by some a Mingsplosion.

I haven't seen Ming disintegrate, or lose any territory ever, since Mandate of Heaven. It's very boring.

It never "explodes" now. Ming AI is pretty rational about own disaster with horde neighbor, so will declare war to ANY independent horde neighbor, before it even has the chance to get 300 development.

Also, as China is pretty rich, it can easily take mid-game institutions, starting with Global trade and so on.

It was already said in some thread that current tributary system is implemented completely wrong. For bonuces Ming should pay with gold.

If you don't own Mandate of Heaven, Ming still explodes. It's never exploded every game and occasionally getting two or three stable Mings in a row just through random chance is to be expected.

However guys, with MOH anD COC, I already seen few chinese nations break free.. But then became tributary so... Not good enough but at least there are some games where Ming can have some small Mingplosion !

I occasionally see pictures of Mingsplosions occurring in other players' games (who have the Mandate of Heaven DLC), but I have no idea how it happens. In my latest game I played as Mongolia and got the unguarded frontier disaster to fire that dropped Ming's mandate to 0. I then went off to colonize the Americas. I left Ming alone for over a century, during which time they had 0 mandate and never collapsed. They simply have too much money and monarch points to ever be threatened by anyone.

I have 2 games running now, one singleplayer, one multiplayer. The singleplayer one Ming has 1200 development in 1528. In the multiplayer one however, Ming has 984 development, and it's only 1490, so some explosion happened there already. The Mingsplosion is a lot rarer, and more often than not Ming becomes the end game boss.

i have seen it once in the late 1600s after Russia invaded. other than that i haven't seen it without direct player intervention
Well, AI Russia will have same bonuces of "lucky nation". While in my last game, where I found Oirats controlling all Siberian khanate, i was getting retard monarchs for 150 years, and the couple of times, I decided to replace them, it was getting only worse.

The AIs do not read Shock/Fire damage received modifiers when considering an army strength, so while the Ming army fights like it's made of paper, the AI only really sees that juicy 200k stack sitting in Beijing. So unless Ming has some powerful rival waiting for them (doesn't happen naturally, only way I can imagine is Ottomans colonizing Taiwan and getting greedy), having low mandate is not a long-term threat.

Mingsplosions can theoretically return if low mandate caused unrest boosts too, as with the extra damage received armies, the minors would break free more easily, but as-is Ming can only really be hit from the outside, and the AI is a total failure at exploiting their weaknesses.

I remember having the most epic Mingsplosion when I was playing as Japan. On one hand, it made my game so much easier. But on the other hand, it made my game way too easy. :(

I actually missed the challenge, when they were gone. I eventually lost interest, and quit, around the time I was starting to invade India.

Of course, I still see this from time to time... b/c I don't have MoH or the new one. :p

They rents up to 50 mercs in 14xx and also some of their tributes unsiege rebel controlled provinces as i see.
%50 minimum autonomy what we need i think :/
