Depends who you play as . As USA IC runs thru 1942 is ok and at least 10 or so thru end of game for the TC bonus.
Maybe with USSR as well I don't know. GER and GB probably not. IC helps with oil conversion amounts [ 10 % of IC ] and TC so more is better .

For most nations you need to figure out what you would do with that 5 IC for a year instead of building a factory. Remember that a factory takes 5 years to pay for itself, and really only adds 1.5 TC for a year's worth of effort.

IC whoring makes sense early, but unless you're playing some sort of game where you're not going to fight for a long time, you should stop during the war. Maybe after you've defeated all opponents but one and have built your military completely and you're only upgrading, providing reinforcements, and maybe building supplies, would I recommend mid-late game builds of IC.

Very true, but then after a year of building you will have more unusable IC due to low manpower, and a very minor boost to TC (one factory doesn't even support one tank division). Granted MP can rebuild, but it does so quicker than a year. Considering most grand campaigns are generally over by 44 or 45, does it make sense to use 10% of the game time to build a factory after a given point?
