From the Simulation dev dairy it states: "To produce goods, industrial areas use raw materials. If the city produces raw materials by specialized industry, the industry will automatically get them shipped from the specialized production facilities. "

Questions:
1) Does the raw material that general industry use come from the processors or the extractors? Or do the processors just produce goods for commercial and if so, how are they different than general industry?
2) Does the general industry need all four raw materials (either raw or processed depending on the answer to 1) or do they just need one? So say the only specialized industry you have is farming. Can that satisfy all your general industries needs or do they need all four raw materials? I understand that coal and oil power plants need those specific raw (or processed) materials.

If you are not producing any raw materials in your city, the industry will import them. The commercial zones will also favor locally made goods but will import the stuff you are not producing locally. I also think they will have to pay more for imported stuff than locally made stuff? So you can make a clean city without any industry pollution whatsoever and just import the goods you need if that is what you want.

Yep, knew that.
