I want to play online with a friend. He's having difficulty getting DH 1.01.1 downloaded (got DH from Steam) and I got it from Gamersgate and I'm patched to 1.01.1. He's patching IC to 1.01 Rev 7. Because his DH is not 1.01.1 will we have any trouble playing together?

All players need the same checksum. If one player doesn't install a patch, this player can't play with other players
Darkest Hour 1.01.1 patch is compatible with all versions of DH no matter where they are bought from.
Both players must have the same version of the games in order to play on-line, DH and IC. It means if one have DH 1.01.1 + IC 1.01 Rev 7, the other must have the same game/patches, otherwise you'll get problems to connect.
Thanks for the quick replies. Would this problem to connect come in the form a message like "The other player is running a different version" or would we not be able to connect at all? We're using Hamachi and having trouble.
We're not even getting that far. I went over to his place today and tried LAN and it wouldn't work either.
Is this the right place to ask for help with Hamachi/DH/IC installation and multiplayer problems?
Okay here is the full story.
I have Dh 1.01.1 and IC 1.01 Rev 7. I got my friend into this game by showing him IC and DH. He bought DH on Steam. Then IC from Gamersgate. Downloaded Steam to the SteamApps folder and it runs fine. He can play Full and Light. Then he downloaded IC and installed it to the DH "Mods" folder and it is all there. Then patched IC to 1.01 Rev 7. He is still missing DH 1.01.1 for whatever reason. When he loads up the DH launcher, Iron Cross is under "Load a mod" and he hits Launch and gets the error "Excel File Not Found" with the options to Abort, Retry or Ignore.
Faulty install? I installed it for him and it was a bit confusing because of the file placement from Steam so I may have made an error. But his IC and DH folders look exactly like mine so I think he has all the files.
On top of all this, when we try to use Hamachi or LAN with DH we can't even connect to each others games, much less get the version incompatibility error. This may be because of ports so we will try that. Also incredibly hard to find a Hamachi server with 2 open spots.

DH 1.01.1 is not available on Steam or any other reseller.
For Steam users I highly recommend to make a copy of their DH folder to another location ("C:\Games\Darkest Hour" is a good one) and manually apply the patch we provide on top of it because Steam messed up the patch and leave obsolete files that can crash the game (Siberia shield for example).

You must install Iron Cross in the Main DH folder, NOT in Mods Folder. Just choose the main DH folder and the installer will do the rest
1.- Install DH
2.- Install DH patches
3.- Install Iron Cross (Choose the Main Folder of DH)
4.- Install IC patch 1.01 (Choose the Main Folder of DH)
5.- Install Rev 7 (Choose the Main Folder of DH)

DH patch 1.01.1 can be installed over any DH distribution (including Steam) and solves all known to us problems with Steam/Impulse/Boxed German version etc.
