Does AoD work with Windows 7?

It's not listed under the compatible OSs in Amazon, where I would buy it.

Also, why was Darkest Hour made available on CD if you cannot download the patches for it from Paradox, and not all sellers (eg Amazon) offer the patches? I was thinking of getting DH (I like the idea of playing a 1914 scenario) but probably won't now.

You certainly can play it on Windows 7.

A lot of people recommend GamersGate to buy Paradox games because it is owned by paradox itself.
I personally used to use Steam a lot, but I am not so happy with their mod support and tweaking, and how and when they publish patches. I now usually use Impulse.

Thanks, Pier. I have a Steam account, but I'm not a great fan of theirs. I prefer owning games on CD, but I guess that's not an option for Darkest Hour.

I have the whole HOI series on steam, it's a bit of a pain with patching because they're not great about passing along third party updates, but the DH teams seems to have gotten permission to distribute these sorts of things through the forums much like the AoD team - so all is well.

And yes, it works great with windows 7 (using 64 bit) only had a few wonky crashes, but it's a complex game.

Aod is very stable under Windows 7 - same as XP-SP3+. Make sure you get the 1.07 patch.

Yeah, I'm actually playing AoD right now on windows 7, just minimized it.

If you register your DH here in the forum (it should come with a registration code) you have access to the DH tech support section. Then you are able to download the official DH patches.
