Does anyone else think the galaxy map can display battle indications better?

Currently I can't tell the difference on the galaxy map between systems in which enemy fleets are present and systems in which your doom stack is engaging the enemy's doomstack. It seems the only way to figure that out is to click the notification popup, which brings you straight to the middle of a system without any context in the galaxy map.

When I was watching the stream I thought it would be nice to have some red pulsating circles or something around systems in which a battle is currently taking place. A man could even dream that there was a way to differentiate big battles from small or non-military battles, i.e. your fleet engaging an enemy construction ship.

Would it not be sufficient if the fleet icon in galaxy map showed the fleets strength like for example the map in CK2 shows the army rating?

That would be amazing. A little number inside the fleet icons to indicate strength (in thousands) would be super useful. Would allow the player to quickly determine whether the enemy fleet is a raiding squad, a deathball, or just a construction ship. At the moment you need to hover over each icon with your mouse to see strength, which is a bit tedious.

I agree. Maps seems to be difficult to read. Where are hostile fleets, what planets am I occupying etc. Red pulsating circles around systems that have battles looks like a fine idea, better that just small red fleet icon that we have now. Occupying enemy planet is shown only by your empire's icon next to name of the planet - i think it should be more visible - for example at maximum zoom out we should have similar system like in eu4 where enemy province is crosshatched with your colour.

About other graphical things - space battles looks nice, especially with those lightnings but planetary bombardment isn't impressive - just some weak yellow lights on the surface. It would be nice to have them more flashed out. Bombing planets should be real fireworks festival, I don't care if it's realistic in this case.

Yeah, I was highly irritated by the enemy construction ships flying around in Blorg space and building their wormhole stations everywhere. An indicator so you see how strong the enemy fleet is on the galaxy map in one glance is very needed, considering this fight took part in a small fraction of the galaxy only.

And while we're at UI improvements, the menu for selecting war targets could need some tweaking as well, so you don't have to scroll and search for ages for that one particular planet. Either make a dropdown menu with all planets for each enemy party seperately or, in the best case, drag-and-drop directly from the galaxy map.

Something like the overlay for adding provinces to a sector but for the war targets screen would be nice. (just click on the systems on the map that you want to add)

Sins of a solar empire had bars that filled and emptied around the planetary icons to represent the strength of player, allied and enemy fleets.
It was pretty damn simple and easy to recognise due to pretty contrasting colours. Something akin to that would work really well.

Edit: Edited a screencap, the green on the left is player fleet strength whilst the bottom bar is structures. The bar on the right is enemy fleet strength.

Edit of Edit: image why you no upload ... Oh now it's uploaded twice!

Yeah as excited by the game as I am, I am a bit concerned I'll always have to play on the lowest speed to keep a track of all the movement of ships and what not on the screen. I don't doubt the UI will be greatly improved in patches and by DLC

Why not add something like in EUIV where there is a little battle icon of crossed swords only have it so that icon remains present on the Galaxy map for the duration of battle? Perhaps change the swords for ships or something?
