Oh man, I love it. The tension is real knowing I have no clue when they'll come knocking. It's a double-edges sword though, because it could effectively kill my campaign at no fault of my own, but I love to play dangerous.
Playing my first game of the patch now with random Mongols but with Aztec invasion disabled. I'm really hoping to see the Mongols come in out of nowhere and smash people, but I'm also just a wimpy little Fylkir who has no interest in getting molested by the Aztecs. I'll probably run a game with both set to Random eventually though.
Randomized invasions are great but I wish there were toggles for other kinds of invasions like Seljuks. I have not seen Seljuks in a game since forever.
I have im still in my first game right now but I decided to start on noob island. I had just about united Ireland 60 or so years in. Barring 2 counties When the Aztecs came knocking on my door And spains. They Crushed me easily. So I ended up as a vassal. I ended up making my kids assimilate into there religion/Culture and have started working
to Restablish my dynasty power in Ireland. But that's just what happened to me. Sorry if this bothered anyone.
I might tweak some things about the random spawning (particularly as the Aztecs currently seem to be capable of spawning before the Norse discover Vinland, which supposedly leads to the invasion according to the events (I want my SI alt history to be internally consistent!)) and will probably include the modded stuff I already have added that makes the invasions scarier (like the Aztec invasion having more than ten times as many men as it does in the unmodded game), but I am fairly certain that I will have them be more-or-less random as it feels more fun to not know that you have a certain number of years to prepare for the invasions.
