I'm not sure why but I really like having friendly turrets in the mission, like the defend 3 dropships mission I just did. I think it's the fact they're like a little rng generator for potentially exploitable damage for the next round.
I've done my best to strip armor and knock these guys down etc, then I sit there fingers and toes crossed that the terrible decision making of the turret commander let's him fire into that de armored panther or get the final knockdown blow on that git of a Hunchback that's rocking back on his heels, instead of the pristine, 5 evasion spider it's bound to miss. I also love cheering on the little striker pals that are pootling around bravely taking potshots at these enormous war machines that are busy shredding each other.
I don't know why but I much prefer that they're (dumb) AI controlled than having to control them myself.
