Once you get to a fleet cap of 1000, you can take out an Awakened FE. You need as many maxed out spaceports as you can get. If this means, colonizing small planets, then do it. With the right build out, you can take on and defeat FE fleets that have significantly more fleet strength than you do because fleet strength overvalues the power of larger ships.
