it was probably already answered but i cant find it. anyone know? would help me ALOT to know if AI does that, and under what circumstances.

We have updated our Community Code of Conduct. Please read through the new rules for the forum that are an integral part of Paradox Interactive’s User Agreement.
The AI will upgrade the techs on upgradable units (Small Arms 1 > Small Arms 2, for instance), but will never put units back into the production queue for "upgrading" to a different type (MIL > INF), at least not to my knowledge.
