I have seen a few games recently where France or Austria expand far beyond what a sane human would do. They get massive aggressive expansion against everyone. This leads to hilarious moments where some OPM trigger the entire coliation punitive war.

I am playing Venice, and it's the second time where i basically have to abandon my alliance with great powers because they end up pissing off half of the continent.

it all really depends on the RNG... and probably the "trait"/attitude of the ruler I guess? I've seen Japan conquer Korea and large parts of Manchu... and lose all of it to rebels and coalition wars within a decade or two. And I've seen them do nothing in other games. ditto for Indian and European powers

It's weird really.

Sometimes I see what you described, France (usually) or Austria (more rarely) gets a huge coalition and loses all their gains for taking far too much of Burgundy or others.

Other times, I see a giant Baden, or Wurttemburg, or other somesuch minor that expands WAY beyond original starting borders with NO COALITON when I know good and god damn well that If I did that as a player I'd have the entire HRE + France + Burgundy + Hungary etc in a coalition against me.
