No problem.

Cynical conspiracy theorist opinion: having a plethora of modifers and thresholds of varying precedence allows for players to believe that the game is so deep and complex, while not being transparent, by not clearly and comprehensively explaining them in the game, allows for a large number of bugs to remain unnoticed.

Pragmatic positive opinion: kudos to the wiki maintainers for providing a treasure trove of essential information.

Sorry guys, it seems to be a little different:

Not based on experience, simply by reading the wiki, it would appear that it does not:

"Terrain Penalty Reduction: +30.00%
(Applied after summing all other terrain modifiers, not applied to terrain features)
Link to relevant part of wiki: Commander Assignable Traits"

As stated correctly, the trait is NOT applied to terrain features.
But you find that the 15% penalty of forts is listed as a terrain feature!

But we have to take into account: the wiki refers to versions 1.5 / 1.8.

I looked into the game-files and found " forts" only as building ( called "bunker" without any "modifiers" which provide penalties or buffs ); forts were not listed as "terrain" or terrain-modifiers.

So I let my computer searches the whole HOI4 datas for "fort" and "bunker".

Result: the word fort ( or forts, fortress etc ) appears in many files, most wiki-html, foci, ideas, events etc. Some units like engineer and AT-units ( like TD ) get boni for attack/defense, some traits like fortress-buster too.
Similar was the search for bunker.

We all know that forts give defense-boni, but I couldn't find a file to verify.

Confusing....:confused:

The "terrain features" penalties can be found in the defines (common\defines\00_defines.lua):
Code:
    BASE_FORT_PENALTY = -0.15,                 -- fort penalty
    RIVER_CROSSING_PENALTY = -0.3,             -- small river crossing
    RIVER_CROSSING_PENALTY_LARGE = -0.6,       -- large river crossing
    AMPHIBIOUS_LANDING_PENALTY = -0.7,         -- amphibious landing penalty

The values above are consistent with the descriptions given by the wiki.

Thanks. :)

Never assumed to find it in that file.... :rolleyes:

To answer the OP-question; do you agree that the trait "adaptable" doesn't affect fortress-fighting?

I'm sorry, I'm a bit confused. Are you asking me? I already responded, see post #2 above. Just going by what the wiki says: it does not. I don't know for sure if that's correct or not, and even if I wanted to find out, I couldn't, as I play HOI 4 without any DLC (assignable traits are a DLC feature).

I have to say "sorry", not you.

I didn't read the word "not" in your #2 post :oops: ; which was indeed the full and correct answer to OP

I'll cancel that question.
