Today I decided to play as Hungary with the DoD expansion and, well, it is really odd. For instance, I went for the monarchy path to elect a facist king. A king who then needs to go away to renounce the treaty of Trianon which, per focus, makes the king lose his position as ruler of the country. As such, why would you ever take the facist king? Even more so as it means you cannot claim any land aftherwards. After all, you would have to go with the bled agreement to get rid of Trianon but that does not bypass the 'renounce trianon' focus. Hence you cannot go down the focus tree further without dumping the king. Which makes not sense, first you elect the king, a bloody SS member who is described as wanting to make Hungary great again, only to get rid of him in favour of the same guy who was rulling your country before you invited the new king???? Why is this a thing or am I just missing something? How come the facist king doesn't become the new leader of the facists who get renamed to the monarchists or something?

That's very odd, I'll check it shortly. As far as I can tell the fascist king should be head of the fascist party, but ends up leading the non-aligned party? And yes, renouncing Trianon and claiming the lost territories is a must for Hungary.

Edit: Something similar happens when going for a democratic king: The Swedish guy that gets invited just becomes a national spirit while the democratic party is still being led by a different guy with a generic portrait who will eventually take over. It's super silly and defeats the point of electing a king in the first place.

I have something bizarre going on with Hungary in my game as Germany right now. I saw an event (maybe generated from a focus?) where Hungary is demanding some province or two from Yugoslavia. The event stated that something to the effect of hoping Yugoslavia gives in to Hungarian demands.

The problem? There has been no Yugoslavia for two years. And now even though Hungary is a member of the Axis, they are justifying war against me. I have no clue what will happen, but I'm putting troops on the Hungarian border just in case.

Bah don't worry, nothing will happen. The AI isn't capable of leaving factions unless they have a different ideology from the faction leader and are at peace. I am guessing neither is true, so no worries, nothing will come of it.

Hungary is wasting precious political points then. :)

He's a democratic king... of course he doesn't actually rule the country.

In the current build, Trianon is renounced if Hungary attacks, or is attacked by, another country. When this happens do you lose the fascist king?

You certainly don't lose Emperor Otto using this method.

Ah, I see, I got so annoyed that I never actually went facist as the tooltip explicitly told me that it would mean Horthy government would rule so I just assumed that Horthy would be leading the country[it's his governemtn after all]. And you are right, it does change the leader of Horthy's government to not be Horthy. Regardless, it's still incredibly stupid that I first re-create the monarchy, get a modifier that increases non-aligned monarchists only to choose a facist king who cannot rule unless the monarchist who just go into power lose power? More importantly, the fact that the facists are still called horthy's government even though you just kicked them out is just confusing to be honest.

So yeah, I should have looked further but I just got really annoyed that I just got a facist king only to apperently not have him be of any use as well as learning that getting the blad agreement does not bypas renouncing Trianon even though it does the same thing -_-
