I was so close to kicking out the pesky tokugawas and restoring imperial glory (2-5 years from meiji restoration decision, at 1850). A bit early, but I mistreated my country pretty heavily for this, so I'm not sure I could have dealt with the more heavy rebellions that were sure to spawn. I had a very tough war against reactionaries around 1840 after getting a bit too much infamy by taking most of korea (aka new poland).

Well, I (Austria) was doing really well, but Prussia kept stealing my sphere-buddies, so I decided to spice things up and start a war. I did not call any allies though, and ended up in war against Prussia, all German minors allied with Prussia, Russia, Great Britain, Ottoman Empire... and others. On my side? Me.

I eventually accepted a peace deal that left me with 0 prestige, and I'm still a GP! Was fun.

RRW has done an excellent job testing the game and has been one of our most dedicated betas, finding obscure bugs in many areas that we didn't find ourselves.

I would think twice before bashing him, the game wouldn't have been the same without his and other betas pure awesomeness.

Even though Japan is uncivilized, how is their rank 52? Austria's total score is 98, compared to Japan's 83. Certainly there can't be that many nations in between those two scores. Does being uncivilized give you a huge negative effect on your score, but it's just now shown?

Uncivs are always ranked behind civilised states. It is not possible to be both a Great Power and an Uncivilised power. So Japan is probably one of the top ranked unciv powers and will have a good shot at becomming a Great Power if they civilise.

And while the AI may be pretty good, it's not a human player.

And some countries may just inherently be better to take into the 19th century industrial revolution than others.

To be honest it will probably not be as good as the hype, but I still think it is a damn fun game to play.

That post will not be deleted. I don't want too much hype, all it means is a lot so disapointed customers come release, and trust me it's not that fun for me. So I want to give you an honest understanding of what the game is so if you do buy it you will not be posting here the next day going but I thought it was going to be like this.

Thank you, I understand your position and appreciate your honesty.

I think the one thing that I find lacking from my extremely limited knowledge of the game since I haven't even played it - just going on AARs and diaries- is the economic system - it seems to be a bit short of my expectations because I am really into deep micromanagement and also understand I am one of the 0.5% of customers who would appreciate such depth

But I also hear rumors of the expansion being focused on economics so that makes me very excited

There is no firm promise for an expansion for Victoria 2, a lot will depend on how well it sells. Also nothing confirmed on what it will be about. As the designer on Victoria 2, I know myself that there is a lot you could do with the economic system. So if I were to jot down some ideas for an expansion right now, the economic system would get a strong showing.

I love playing Russia in V2... but damn, over speed 2 in MP, and its way too quick for me.

UK is the same, even speed 2 there can be too much going on.
