yes, I think Rome should be "completed" first.... like EU:3 improved with In Nomine.

without reading the above, I think an expanded timeline (if thats what the expansion pretends) is wrong, because the industrial revolution begins in the final timeline of In Nomine and it cant be combined with the EU3 mechanics.

id like the good things from EU3 implemented in a new EU4, with improved graphics etc.

I think EU3 is not complete and when you look at Rome you can easily see why - Rome is a far far better game all round but I personally am far more interested in the Roman setting than the Medieval world. I would have been interested in HOI3 but I think it looks exteremely dull the way it has turned out which is a crime. But for me Rome is almost as close as Paradox has got to perfection in one of their games and I think they have there a really good base for further expansion. As with the TW games RTW was the most interesting of all of them but Rome has RTW beat.

Hi guys.

I know we've released a package of EU3 and all its expansions already and called it complete. But... We keep talking about eu3 regularly, bringing up new ideas on fleshing out gamemechanics, and improving flavor and playability. Me, Doomdark, King and other others of the team now have dozens up dozens of cool ideas for Eu3.

So, would you guys like another expansion pack for EU3 or do you view the game as complete?

(of course, we'll wrap up 3.2 first..)

focus on HoI 3!

EU3MMP mod is really sweet, so why not focus on the EUR series. There has been a lot of good feedback from EUR gamers to stimulate a good expansion that would really improve on the core game and VV. Please?

You'd pass up a new expansion because of one mod? To me, having a new expansion would be great because Paradox can change a lot of things that modders cannot.

I like the ideas people mentioned of rebellions being less common, but larger in scale. It'd be neat to see patriot rebels increasing revoltrisk in all appropriate provinces just by their act of rising, and even more if they succeed in a siege. Other than that, I'd also like to see peace AI reworked entirely. It'd be great if I could give a province and accept another one in return, getting rid of a province with a non-accepted culture and taking a province with one instead. There could be restrictions on this of course, such as making it very difficult to get rid of a province with a core and very difficult to take a province with a core of the country you are dealing with, but I think there would be much fewer total wars waged if it were harder to either take or hold provinces of another culture.

I'd also like to see provincial/national decisions dealing with culture. Most nations during this time period had a great number of local customs and even local dialects that were officially discouraged. I'd like to see decisions to discourage local customs in favor of national unity which would have increase local revoltrisk for 50+ years until the culture changed, then have a heightened cultural revolutionary revoltrisk until another 50 years after. Obviously many of the culture groups have been set up to make this unnecessary, but the Scottish, for example, are closer to Celtic culture than they are to English culture in 1399, and it was through time and decisions that they came to sharing culture with the rest of Britain.

Also, with the gameplay to Rome being so close to EU3, I think any major gameplay mods to EU3 would likely show up as a cheaper expansion to Rome, just like IN became VV for half the price.

You can change the way the rebels act by allowing them to reinforce, have artillery and have them assault cities.
Remember, rebels are not common. They just become common when you rule badly.
If you want to 'give' and 'get' provinces in war, maybe allow every religion to be annex-able. That means once the province is in your control, you can annex it like everyone does when conquering pagans.
You can easily mod Scottish into gaelic group.

Why pay for something you could mod with in such a short time?

the game could be improved further i think but maybe eu4 might be a better idea.

not sure if this is a moot point, but maybe years (or months) down the road, the eu3 code could be released for further modding by the community. this would enable paradox to move on to other things (eg eu4) while the community would keep eu3 alive with the endless creativity of the mods.

Moar EU3!

In Nomine was one of the best expansions I've ever played. I've always succumbed to that trick of game developers- anyone ever play the Sims? About a dozen expansion packs, each adding very very little. Also, there's this tendency of some to introduce a few basic new features and then a new scenario, as in Medieval Total War. But for Paradox, no; this was not how it was to be. IN added so many things: stuff that made it more fun and easy to play, stuff that made it more complex in some areas, that made gameplay simpler in other areas, features that made the whole experience more fun and interesting. I was really happy with In Nomine.

I just hope that if there is a third EU3 expansion, it will live up to the standard set by the latest expansion.

If an expansion comes, I hope rebels will not be just a major annoyance as they are now (I'm of course talking about the endless pingponging and micromanagement, and yes, even in the latest patch.) This really ought to be fixed in a patch, though.

i remember hating them after IN on EU3, hand in hand with some nasty events that didnt fit in at all at the current situation of my empire...
in rome its quite similar

Please make population really count

I like many of the ideas already posted, but what would really make the game more enjoyable for me would:
1, please make population more important as pertaining to manpower, taxes, etc.
2, more additional domestic diplomatic features (feudalism actually seeming like feudalism, voting and elections for republics), for me, the game seems like the only thing there is to do is war and acquire land.
2, an upgraded naval system and a non-idiotic naval AI (hence, make the navy as important as it should be and also so that the AI recognizes this importance)
3, a distinction between colonial provinces and home provinces in regard to tech cost; here is an aspect where population significance could really matter.
4. Upgrades based on province type- colonial specific upgrades, more colonial goods- I don't know, say, make colonization more fun and make the AI aware of crappy colonization areas so Africa is painted yellow.
5. I know some ppl tried to fix this, but make the AI adjust its troop types in an intelligent manner.
6. Any improvements to make the AI better and more "intelligent" are always welcome and should actually be first on the list.
7. A decent alliance and diplomatic system

I like EU3, I would buy another expansion for it. But, I find myself playing Rome more. Rome needs another expansion far more then EU3.

I really enjoy the character system in Rome. Its too random. I end up getting missions I can#t reasonably complete or random events that drop my rulers popularity 20 points. The game seems to create unrealistic events to drop ruler popularity, To force civil unrest. The player then is forced to rearrange their government appointed characters based on loyalty. I like the idea of civil wars, The way it is now feels way too artificial or ``gamey``.

I apologize for going off topic in this thread. I#m a Paradox fan, I#ll buy any of their games. I just think Rome needs some attention more then any other.
