The only reason why 20% voted against an EUIII expansion is because they thought it would delay another game; so with this in mind, the aproval rating is actually 100% -instead of 80%.

That's a pretty broad/assuming statement.

I'm honestly not that fired up for an EU3 expansion regardless of whether or not it would have any impact on the development of a hypothetical other game. As mentioned, I think that EUIII is pretty "complete" as is. It is a solid, whole game. And sure, it took it two expansions to get to that point, but it's there. I don't see any reason to make significant tinkerings to it.

I'm not outright opposed to another expansion (at least, as long as such an expansion didn't get out of hand), but I'm certainly not actively in favor of it.

Cheers.

I totally aggree with you that EUIII is, certainly compared to most other titles, by no means "incomplete"; but it sounds like Johan and company have some ideas to make it even better. And I can't say that I think that EUIII is perfect, meaning it couldn't benefit from some new features and changes.

The way I look at it is: what's great can still get much better. I just can't wait until these dozens of ideas Johan has are revealed.

We (I) want a expansion rather than a new game. exteneded timeline to 1920's would be great

No, EU3 is not made for the Victorian Era.

That Era deserves is own game, not one giant game from 1399-1920 that goes from knights and longbows to machine guns and airplanes.

That would be a mess. An epic mess yes, but a mess just the same.

That alone would be a great feature that would let you do more game playing and less rebel chasing. I hate having to constantly pause and chase down rebels. I'm guessing it would be possible since similar sorts of things have been mentioned about how HOI3 air missions work, and they are both built on the same engine.

If the ideas for the expansion are, as Johan stated, mostly gameplay-oriented, then I'd be glad to see an expansion. EU3 is a fantastic game, but there are a few areas I would like to see improved.

I'm new to the franchise, just having ordered EU3 Complete (2 copies) and playing my first games with my wife. We are having a ball, this is an utterly satisfying game. A bit bewildering at first for two users with no experience with any Paradox games, but once we got past the significant learning curve, things fell in place nicely and all the depth and richness started coming through.

As new users, I would say that my wife and I have some noobish inputs for things we'd like to see:

1) More elaborate missions. EU3 seems so open-ended, it's easy to get lost wondering what to do. The goal orientation of missions brings a welcome sense of purpose to the sandbox nature of the game, this would really help make the whole experience more concrete for both of us. Think of how cool it would be to have missions that were multi-faceted and multi-step?

2) I know that you have abstracted many complex systems, like Trade, but I do think that having the ability to manage trade routes would be fun and would add to my sense of trade as an occupation.

3) This is probably heresy for a Paradox game, but I'll say it anyway: we would like to see game win conditions in the Options menu at the start of the game. I want to play against other players (my wife or other friends on the Internet) and a completely open-ended sandbox style game isn't going to sit well with most of the intensely goal-oriented people I play with.

Anyway, I'm just getting into EU3 Complete right now, so I can't imagine what you'd add, I still have so much to learn about this game. But I guarantee you I will buy two copies of whatever expansions you make!

Great game, great job, thanks guys and keep them coming!

either a new expansion or expand what can be modded. I would like to see more diplomatic options: sell multiple provinces, buy provinces, demand provinces by threatening war if they refuse, give some provinces when demanding territory to increase warscore, give money to increase warscore when demanding territory, make a country start war with another with the promise of joining the war, make a country start war with another by threatening war if they refuse, make countries make peace, demand royal marriage by threatening war.

I think EU3 is pretty complete, I still have never completed the games full time line anyway so not like there would be a big difference for me in doing that anyway. But there are of course things along the way that could be better. I'm not sure on exact ideas right now, but I'd get the new expansion if it had enough new toys in it :)

You wouldn't, by chance, be a politician... Would you?

If you're not, drop whatever you're doing and start. That is a masterful job of redefining a situation into a completely pro (for, as in not against) argument.

It may not hold water, but it looks good... and it's slick as all get out.

As mentioned, I think that EUIII is pretty "complete" as is.

One would imagine that this would depend on what one's definition of 'is' is... :p

Well, a lot of people who voted against the expansion justified it by wanting a CK2/Vicky2 instead, so the real vote is probably even more in favor than the poll shows. :)

I think the real purpose of this poll is to get total number of "yes" votes, add 3/4 of "no" votes, multiply it on some secret coefficient of average forum activity and get the estimate number of new expansion sales. ;)

I'd suspect they already intend to produce an expansion. This thread is just to generate hype and excitement in anticipation of an announcement at the game convention online in late August.

Either that... or Paradox has a sadistic side and likes seeing us suffer while they deliberate the issue ;)

An Expansion would be great with more economicand political decisions. If not a Dark Ages game would be priceless. No game right now covers that era. You have the Vikings, the fall of the Western Roman Empire, The survival of the EREmpire, the Arab invasion of Europe, and a long span of time to cover from 470's AD. till around 1100 AD which is the beginning of the CK period.

That's the sort of thing I'd like to see too. Rebels are by far the most annoying thing in the game. There should be fewer revolts, although I wouldn't mind them being stronger. Beaten rebel armies should lay low for long periods of time, just like they did most of the time in history. Better rewards for quenching them are needed.

Agreed. I would like to see the defeat or destruction of a rebel army reduce the revolt risk in the province in which the rebels spawned or at least reduce the revolt risk for that specific type of rebel across the board. This would simulate the ability of the population to successfully begin a rebellion - and if they had just been defeated it should take some time before they can again successfully launch a revolt.
