Do you think EU4 will surpass its predessors

It starts later as CK2 ends later.

I know why they're doing it, I just think it's a shame that they are. My personal opinion is that EU games are more fun than CK, and personally I'd prefer an extra 50-100 years on EUIV with a bit of an overlap than a save game converter (If Johan does convince his coders to make one!) for CK2 with a seamless date overlap.

As I say, I find 1356-1444 more fun in EU than CK, but that's just my opinion, and I'm obvious in the minority or they'd have done it differently (Or they're going to push it back with DLC later). Regardless, for those like me there will be mods for it soon enough I expect!

I was a bit worried at first, but with all I've seen since now, either it will be one of the best games of the year (the best?) or paradox have a god-tier marketing service.

Yes, I think that EUIV will be better than predecessors. The reason why I think that is that, in EUIV actually I saw everything I liked of EUIII + Expansion, and at the same time, I saw modified the design of the features that not convinced me in the previous title.

Same here, I didn't like the way infamy worked, and the 5/5 diplomats, colonists, etc... bothered me.
New trade system seems great.

In fact, what I always reproached to EU III was that non-warfare features were not as interesting as it could have been, with EU IV, handling trade, diplomacy, and internal policies seems great !

From watching the Quill1 Youtube videos I am now convinced that EU4 will surpass EU3, and I suspect it might even be more fun than CK2 but that is hard to say because they are two different games.

I've got some concerns about it. I hope they haven't made expansion too easy like it is in CK2. I really think EU3 with mods is one of the best strategy games around and they seem to have changed an awful lot of stuff in the mechanics. I hope it isn't a case of fixing what isn't broken. Probably will give them a few months to patch the inevitable bugs and see what mods come out before I can really judge it though.

I am still here, playing Paradox games since Europa Universalis in 2001. I remember the anticipation for Europa Universalis II ! Ah. CK and Victoria were not even on the radar yet.

I remember buggin Strategy First to know when exactly Victoria would get to stores and which stores had reserved stocks. After my second email, they answered me quite abruptly...

I played HoI 2 for hundreds of hours. Then came HoI 3, and it was good. It wasn't fantastic, and it is both inferior and superior to HoI 2. But I cannot manage to go back to HoI 2 because the new features I like makes me forget about the worse features. I love EU3, and do I believe that EU4 will surpass it? Yes! I've yet to see something that really puts me off. quill18's videos made me pre-order the damn game, sometimes he's playing it wrong

Like you stated,they refined a lot of the mechanics ,making it overall a much better experience. So yes, i am sure that eu3 will never be visited anymore except for maybe 10mins of nostalgia

Some of the ruler, timelines go that far, I wonder if there will be a DLC adding another 100 years to the game....

You didn't understand him. He doesn't ask a way to make the game's ending being 1553.
He asks for a DLC which would create new bookmarks beetween 1337 and 1453.
