The problem is that no matter how wide you go you always need the same amount of unity, so eventually you reach a point where your entertainers and rulers are over producing unity. You can have no unity jobs and still get too much unity.
I just do utopian abundant pleasure seekers and mass produce holo theatres. On my core worlds just up the wazoo (aquatic paradise right now with anglers seems pretty good). On other worlds 2, and then fully upgrade them. The popgrowth benefit, the unity, the stability bonus from massive amenities in my utopia, means I can have all the unity traditions active.
Ah that sounds wrong and explains why it's so easy to unlock them fast, the cost should increase with size of empire as well I think. (something like culture policies in civ 5, unlocking a new one felt like winning a lottery)
That used to be the case until bureaucrats were introduced, completely destroying the unity and technology balance to this very day. (This is also why you're already in repeatable techs around 2100, by the way)
