Do you garrision ALL of the french coast when launching the invasion of Russia???

If so do you have 3 brigade inf or do you choose garrisions only?

I would be interested to hear your formula's for this.

No problem. Just stick some basic units in your ports and make sure you don't move them by mistake, lol. I go with maybe two Garrison, and Anti-Air, and an Anti-Tank. Swap Garrison for Infantry depending on what you can afford.

Yup, only garrison the provinces with ports, that should do it. And be sure to garrison your baltic sea ports, like Koenigsberg, Memel, etc, as the AI loves invading there, hehe (well, it used to, cant say with 1.2, not been able to test it out yet).

I garrison the entire coast from Lorient to Denmark, and then block the straits of Denmark with a couple garrisons to prevent Allied shipping from moving through. But I hate being gamey... probably a bit masochistic :)

I am in doubt what to include in such garrison division.
I suggest 1xcavalry+1xgarrision+1xpolice
maybe there should be 1xantiair?

I very rarely use antiair for anything (its practically useless, much like interceptors, hehe).

My normal coastal garrison division is 2xgar and 1 or 2 art. Its not a strong division per se, but will chew up anything trying to invade by sea (armor invading by sea gets hit by so big penalties that i prefer a second art over an at brigade). Also, if you have the IC to spare, building coastal fortifications helps a lot.

For regular garrison divisions, i never use garrison brigades, they are far too slow (1 km/h). Same goes for police brigades, they dont surpress anything anyway, so are useless in their intended role. I use whatever i have available really, infantry, cavalry, light armor, motorised, etc.

Infantry is fairly slow (4 km/h), but cavalry is only 1 km/h faster, which makes them useless as fast counter units (compared to vanilla infantry). Light armor and motorised have a speed of 10 km/h, but are far too costly to use on a grand scale as revolt supressors, so its a bit of a juggle of what i have available.

I usually use GAR-GAR-GAR-GAR or GAR-GAR-GAR-ART in fortified ports and keep several MOT-TD divs as mobile reserve inland.

2x GAR is fine, plus 1 ART in the most important ports.

2xCAV is great for hunting partizans. It's faster than they are, it's cheap and it eats straw instead of precious oil.

2x MOT + 1 SP ART is perfect as a mobile reserve to quickly reinforce ports in case of an invasion. 3 or 4 of these for France & Benelux should do fine.

sorry but how did you find that out? maybe in the strategy guide ?

Never read the strategy guide. I'm going on personal experience, although I have no played with 1.2 yet.

As for the garrison force, I see no reason to use cavalry for a division that's just going to sit in one province.
