Curious as to how many, if any, just play until a goal is met? I always want to finish a game, but lately, I've felt like quitting games when the victory was in hand.

I usually finish though if I am either mortally doomed, or seconds away from victory I just say the result went in whatever way I was heading towards and start another round. 
I've never finished a HoI game...By 1943 or 1944 I'm always winning and then I don't want to look at the screen for 4 years.
i have finished various games. With the US I have finished various campaigns, waiting for those super heavy tanks. I met the Russians in central Europe. With Italy I have also finished a grand campaign, I was waiting for Australia to fall. I reached 1948, having conquered Australia, India, most of the Middle East, and part of Eastern Europe. I have never finished a grand campaign with Germany.
I rarely finish games, either. Most of the time the game is either completely in the bag or completely out of hand well before 1947.

...I generally only finish a game when I play a minor country, France or Italy would be about the largest. Finished one game as France by declaring war on the Soviet Union as they were about to annex Germany.(I didn't beat them by the time the clock ran out).
...Playing as a major country, the war is pretty much over by sometime in 1943. I don't see the point in attempting to conquer every single little podunk country in the world once all effective opposition has been dealt with. I think the end is too easily predictable by then.

Some here I usually finish the game by 42-43 as a nation like the UK or France and sometimes a bit longer as Germany but usually the wars over by 1944 in my games.
Mostly I find that small nations lead to the longest games as playing them is usually a struggle. Once as Austria I fought till early 1945 when I fell to the Soviets and the epic Sino Japanese wars with me playing as Nationalist China usually last a long time as well.

Some I finish, some I don't. It realy depends on what my goal was before I started. Sometimes I'll go on if only to use all that nift semi-modern kit that I don't normally get until the war's over.

LOL! Ive always finished a game (only played as Germany) but thats only cause I'm usually occupied with russia until 1945/6 or by 44/45. Then I just build lots and see how much i can build. (Never lost a game yet, out of 40!!!)

lol oddly enough i thought i was one of only a few people that didnt finish the games..
HOI is only fun for me till like 1942 (playing as germany)
by 1942, france, italy, russia, and britain is pretty much destroyed.
its boring once most of the majors are gone, and i dont like bothering with playing around trying to transport units like 10,000 miles to destroy a major that is just as easy as others were, sorta a waste of my time :/
so by 1942 i quit the game and start as another country.
I hate playing as soviet union since, they are i swear the easiest country to play with, its not even funny how easy they are.
once germany is out of the way, you are pretty much done, everyone else left is like a puff of smoke, they are gone with the wind.
this is like hmmm 100+ games to :/
ive played as italy france and romania before not as much as germany, germany is 75 or so of my games, italy is like 10 france is 10 , 5 are like romania and a few others "japan" etc. :/
meh anyways always wondered if others always finished a game boring or not.
not all of these games are wins also, i have the odd game where, i get declaration of war on me in 1936 by france and others... sorta umm sucks?
by others i mean poland :/ this was like 1 month after game start in 36 it was crazy, i had never done it before, and soon enough poland had taken half of germany!!! let myself down i held off those damn frenchies though

I usually do, expect for when Im pissed off by some design flaw, to many crashes etc.
For instance, last game Ive abandoned becouse of several things with the latest 1.06c? patch. Most buggy is the plane stacking punishment.
When the Soviet AI trows 12 fighter planes against my planes, I dont have any chance at all, so whats the bloody point of playing?
I reinstall the game with 1.06 flat and try again.
