Damn those money grubbers. Trying to steal our money, horde it and sit on it until they turn into dragons! They truly hate us don't they? Down with PI!

Happily, this isn't the case even though some delusional posters would have you think that.

Unhappily it IS the case that I paid for a game that does NOT do what it was advertised to do. Now you can rephrase that in a ridiculous way and laugh at it all you want while angling for a pat on the back from Paradox; it doesn't change the fact that Paradox has not delivered what they so clearly promised.

I could give a damn if I get a pat on the back from Paradox. If you think I'm brown-nosing, you're dead wrong. Meh...

Get your money back if you are so unhappy. Buy it in the future when the price comes down. It's your right as a consumer. Write to Paradox and demand your money back and quit complaining about it. So, either nut up or shut up.

HOI3 is not perfect by any stretch of the imagination but I'm keeping my copy as I know it will be a classic. I have something called patience. Simple life skills that obviously you haven't mastered.

I think most that say game is "unplayable" just dont understand because of the "steep" learning curve.

will you be offended if i say that most that excuse major game problems as matter of stupid players are c***y little blinded f***s ?

err i mean dont seem to grasp all of the game concepts and/or understand them enough to see the bug knocking on their face?

I could care less if you think your E-dick is bigger than mine. Sorry if HOI3 ruined your summer vacation Socrates.

Oh the smug superiority. You keep laying out the cash for broken goods mate, that makes you a reeeaaal winner!

No, a real winner doesn't bitch and complain about a computer game like it's life or death and rail on about nonsensical things. I never said I was superior to anyone. I'm just not losing any sleep over HOI3 or what some anonymous posters have to say. That makes you a reeeaaal idiot.

In the meantime, you guys can carry on. I think I'll watch some Fawlty towers actually. I miss that show. :) Maybe play a little Civ 4. Now there was a game that had some major problems on release. Funnily enough, it's turned into an absolute gem. Oddly enough, Firaxis has a good track record of listening to their customers, and getting the game right. Sound like anyone we know?

I'll play HOI3 after the 1.2 patch comes out. No big deal.

The mistakes from the map alone show people were asleep at the wheel. Anybody who is a WW2 game mfr should know that Stalingrad was wrongly placed on the map...but it shipped anyways.

This is one of the things that annoyed me most.

When the first screenshots (remember, early alpha shots) where posted months ago, people started pointing out errors on the map.
All I heard from pretty much everyone was: "Oh, this is only a early alpha shot, all this will be fixed ´till release!"

Guess what, it wasn´t.

Don´t anyone claim "it sliped by". It didn´t. Many of those errors were pointed out months ago (by the customers, no less) but still made it into the release.
Frankly, from what I gather this community would have been happy to "proofread" the map but this would have Pdox required to actually do something about the map.

I don't think that taking a game seriously is nearly as bad as getting angry at people over forum posts regarding the game.

We're all on the same side here, the difference is that people have different ways of trying to get what they want, i.e. an undeniably great game. There's no need to get angry at anyone.

We've kept this thread open for 81 pages, to provide a venue for frustrated players.

I am reluctant to close it. It's probably better just to hand out bans to the rudest and most intolerant posters.

Of course, that will mean that they are on probation and unable to access the Tech Support and Bug Forums at the time when the 1.2 patch comes out.

I suggest that you people start treating each other wit a bit more tolerance and respect.

As one of said frustrated players, perhaps if Paradox was actually doing something to fix the major problems rather than just keeping open this thread, then there wouldn't be a need for this thread?

Just a friendly suggestion, mind :D:D:D

Nah ... probably too radical an idea for software development ;)

Keeping the thread open is doing something. For one thing these threads contain precise information about what is bothering people the most, and what to work on. On the other hand you seem to want to have programmers writing up progress reports for you on a daily basis, as opposed to actually doing the work to change the things that need to be changed.

Many of the answers you seek, may not even be answered yet, except in vague theory and it would be counter-productive for staff to post incorrect answers to problems that have not been resolved, or may end up being resolved in ways that have not been considered yet.

It's a sad organization if programmers are posting to forums. That's what management is for. What else do they have to do? play golf and count thier money? ;) Besides, programmers aren't known to be a charismatic bunch.

Not that I even desire progress reports. I'd rather have an admission, an apology, and a plan to not let it happen again in the future.

"We realise we went wrong here and here, we have hired more people here, and plan to do this here, we do not plan to let this happen again"...

A guy can dream eh?

Promises of patches really do me no good after going through that for 20 titles this year. When the patches actually come and fix the game we can talk about how great they are.

P.S
I am still waiting for that patch for Supreme Ruler 2020 that is going to introduce an ai into the game ;) Of course that is BG released through Paradox. Would have been a fun game if I couldn't walk through every nation in the world with 7 engineers while taking a shower in the other room.

No. Managements job is to manage the programmers and the marketing and accounting people while at the same time not saying anything stupid that they have to retract later, or that would make investors or partners nervous.

In fact Paradox has issued a direct statement making clear what specifically they think needs to be fixed in the game as well as a general time line of when they want to fix it, over here: The 1.2 Roadmap

Perfect opportunity for some programmer humor :)

Yea, because there is so much to managing a development team...

"Hey Chris, can you take a look at this bug list and knock them out for me?"
"Ok,....didn't I send you a report on items 1,3,6,7, &13 6 months ago on build 1.10.23.900?, I was ready to check in those fixes 6 months ago"
"I never got that email"
"I am sure I sent it, I have it right here in my send box"
"You understand I have more than 500 emails a day, I rarely read them all"
"I see"
"Just fix it or you'll be here on Saturday. I'll be in my office with the door locked and lights off"
"Ok....."

Clear statement?
We intend to fix these 2 or 3 things, these generic items that you couldn't put any kind of measurement to, and maybe more....

I think you missed the part about the apology, explanation, and the future plan too.
