I've noticed it first while playing the Proper Hardness mod, so I thought it was a mod issue. But afterwards I also noticed it on my mod-free city.

Apparently, when a Cim goes to visit a commercial zone or park, he or she never leaves. I've watched a cim park his car and walk into a Drug Store to stay there for over two in-game years. The car abandoned by the parking lot, never to see his owner again (and apparently never despawning either). Clicking on the car still told me that the owner was visiting the Drug Store; what a loyal vehicle. And, watching parks, I can easily see Cims coming in, but they never go out. It's like every building in my city is trying to be Hotel California.

Edit: Just to clarify, I noticed this behavior among residents of my city; not sure if it also applies to tourists (the thread title might be misleading regarding this). I'll try to test that later.

Put down enough police stations so you have enough resources to handle the missing persons report. The body is probably at the bottom of the river and needs to be dredged up.

Lmao xD

Ellye: I cant say i have experienced this, as my cims seems to run around the city, but it might be because (if the nr is right) u can only have 65k agents running around at the same time, someone might have taken his spot as he went in the building and was prolly teleported home. Thats only my opinion.

Oh, this wouldn't be the issue, as one of the cities in which I noticed the problem doesn't even have 65k people total.

I might try to get a video of this when I get back home.

Hmz, if this is true, then it might explain the low benefits from tourists as well. If they only go to one attraction before leaving they can't spend too much money. I'm going to track some tourists in my city tonight.
If they even leave! I'm not getting many tourists, but I'll see if I can track one around too.

I've noticed the same but with people commuting from another city to play in my basketball courts :p.

I hypothesize that there is an invisible "tourist demand" generated by the city (or perhaps each comercial/park/unique buildinf demands tourists from outside?) Once they arrive they produce constant tax income for you from tourism until they die/leave/despawn.

Tourists leave (as in I've seen plenty of tourists "leaving the city" either by car or train), but maybe there's some hidden rules in place that means he took over 2 years to do his shopping. Or maybe he just met up to do shopping with his wife.

Ok, let me tell you about the holiday of Kathleen Davies. A low wealth tourist, who came to Forkton with her own car, for a well deserved vacation.

Her first stop was a basketball court, she hung around here for a bit under a month.
Next stop was the St. Pauli's Football stadium. Here she watched half the season, she stayed for about 3,5 months.
She must have gotten hungry, since she visited an Eco store for about 2 weeks.
After that she visited a public football pitch for a month (she either really likes sports, or enjoys looking at men in shorts).
Next stop was another basketball court, where she stayed for about 3 weeks (yes, I'm beginning to see a pattern here).
Hungry again, so off to the Superstore for about 2 weeks.
Next up was a large playground. She stayed here for 3 days, after which she magically teleported to the Forkton Tax office, where she stood around confused for a few days before I lost track of her. Must have not filled in her forms or something.

In total, she spent around 8 months in our city (excluding travel), and visited 7 locations (not counting the tax office, since she teleported there).

So yep, they definitely DO travel around, they just spend a VERY long time at the spots they visit :)

Tourists will move around fine, but citizens can get stuck in the parks in one of two ways. If their family needs goods and there are no shops in very close physical proximity to the park, they will be stuck trying to purchase goods from the park. Or, if they are physically represented in the park, the combination of if/else logic doesn't terminate in any way for them to leave.

Mod author of Proper Hardness, the mod that I was using when I first noticed this, commented that this was a (now fixed) issue with his mod.

I'll test it again in a vanilla save with the disable-mods command line argument, to be sure. I guess simply unloading the mod on the Content Manager after I had already loaded another city using it probably wasn't enough.

Hehe. She seem to really like men in shorts, nice story. btw This actually concludes that without the demanded daily cycle, 8mnths could have been 8 weeks or 8 days. 8 days gives more sense imo for a vacation visiting 7 locations.
