I've been watching Stellaris for some time now and I'm very interested in the game. I have seen DDRJake today stream and an AI video on his youtube channel. In both situations AI started endgame crisis by about 2330-2340. In my opinion it is a little bit too early for an endgame crisis.
What do you think?

That does sound quite early... Is it possible that there was no "Keepers of Knowledge" fallen empire to warn the AI empires away from the dangerous technology?

In the time lapse video, it could be just that the AI got lucky (or well, unlucky) in pulling the experimental jump drive tech and drawing the Unbidden into the galaxy.

I never have been a fan of early game crisis, Galactic civilization III have something called dread invasion very irritating.
anyway back to the point i read this game is very mod friendly so expect mods that chance the chance counter.

Sometimes they should come early and sometimes they should come late and sometimes they shouldn't come. In Ck2 can you can pretty much make a solid guess when each of the "crises" shows up, making them a lot less OMFG, because you can essentially predict and prepare for them. Sometimes the galaxy just gets consumed HAK HAK HAK

Nope not too early.
In DDRJake's case the event was triggered by one of the AI empires who researched something he shouldn't and thus enabled the extradimensional invasion.
He failed to counter that invasion because:
- Attacking the extradimensionals headstrong (x3)
- Did not upgrade/optimize the fleet in time
- Discovered a special project linked to the extradimensionals far too late (after 1st attack).
- Focused solely on battleships, had too few corvettes/other supporting ships

Now I get that noone is an expert at this game yet, and that the endgame crisis is unforgiving and brutal. I for one welcome this, because if we are lulled in to a false sense of security (ie we have the biggest fleet in the galaxy), the game quickly becomes boring.

I bet he will learn from this experience and the next game he plays he will be much better prepared for such an encounter in the future :)

Yeah, I definitely appreciate that he probably could have won but that the crises are serious enough that you don't need to try to lose for them to be a real threat.

I have nothing about devastating endgame crisises with 'game over' over my screen, but I would like to keep my potential empire for a little bit longer. It's good sing that game keep a challenge after that long time, especially when it is nearly full sandbox without fixed starting positions.

If you ask me, i'd say everything in Stellaris happens too damn fast. When i first read about concept of Stellaris i expected "normal" party length to be like 500 years. But "late game" crisis 130 years from the start?
If anything it ruin immersion completely - no way pops on planets grow that fast, adapt to technologies that fast (and some like sentient AI or psionics are really shaking for people), accept aliens to live alongside them (even if xenophile). Remember that London multiplayer event - 50 (fifty) years from the start everyone know each other and live together - it means that if it were "real" humans among those races - people who saw department of the first FTL ship still live in completely changed society.
