In case anyone wonders: is it really necessary to wipe the installation? Can't it just run on top of previous versions?

I have two installations. One is a fresh install with 1.03 applied. The other is 1.03 slammed on top of bolted 1.02.

Both versions run allright (no ctd), but the 'on top' version does occasionally produce some weird results: 'ghost units', multiple leader abilities etc..

This is no proof some of these errors would not occur in the fresh install too, but it's definately a recommendation in case you see weird stuff to wipe the installation entirely, reinstall and try to recreate the problem.

The install will no overwrite any modded files, so if you have edited any files you must remove them first, A fresh install and just the latest patch are always the recommended way to go.

My standard procedure since EU2 is keep a zipped 1.00 install and after installing the lastest patch and any mods that use the registry to install then rename the directory and make shortcut to hoi.exe manually. Then when a new patch comes out unzip the 1.00 and repeat.

Yep - thats the procedure I have used since EU1.
Sometimes I would have 3 different patched/modded EU1s on the HDD - but always the fresh one! :)
