One of the mechanics I love most about CK is that the characters that inhabit a realm you annex can do several things -
1) They flee to their relatives abroad
2) They flee to seemingly random countries
3) They just stay in the Purple Limbo of Death for a while and come back to serve you
Also, characters can defect to other realms through events.
All of these lead to very interesting situations - for example, playing as the Byzantines in 1337, I ousted the Italian ruler of Epirus...who later ended up being a ruler of some Republic (Ancona, I think) in Eastern Italy! I also installed a minor Turkish ruler whose domain I annexed as a ruler of Crimea.
Are there such game mechanics in Rome? I think it would be interesting if we could put traitors in command of armies to invade their former homeland, or install banished members of foreign dynasties as our puppets. I will certainly be very disappointed if the CK mechanics like this were left out. However, there should be a restriction on where people flee - characters should flee to realms that control provinces of their ethnicity/religion, or to major neighboring powers (or to relatives).
