Greetings, i started a new game and was planning to do a multi-race game for a change. So i conquered some atomic-age aliens with another preferred planet type, got them to follow my ethos and really want to start using them to colonize soon(ish).

Happiness is 35% (-10 % from culture shock, -5% from no leadership). So my question is, do they ever go non-rebellious (i.e. don't need influence to surpess)? I wouldn't want to propagate a problem that is already eating the most rare resource (influence)...

They will stop having the Stellar Culture shock, I don't know the exact time(sorry) but the earlier the age that you conquer then the longer it will take to go away. One of them that I did this to took nearly a decade to stop having the Stellar Shock to get rid of.

While simple to say, it's harder to achieve. You have to make them happy.

Culture shock and/or conquered butthurt will eventually go away and you can set the xeno leadership policy (doesn't mean you actually have to recruit them).

Ah, so they just need to be happy ? Thats great, thank you. And also good to know about the culture shock times, so i won't accidentially conquer bronze age types in the future :D

Worth noting that is only with the pops that were there when you first conquered. New pops lose their culture shock in 1/5 the time, so in the case of bronze age, only the first 2-3 pops will have that century-long culture shock, the rest of your pops should lose it in about 20.

Also, if they're at least Industrial Age, it's better to infiltrate them and have them join that way; no culture shock, no conquest penalty, and all the tile blockers get turned into the cheaper-to-remove urban sprawl/industrial wastland blockers your capital had.

Infiltration, however takes time, and if RNG hates you (and sends a lot of events that remove progress your way), it can be a decade or more before it finally succeeds.

On the other hand, infiltration doesn't damage your relationships with other empires as it doesn't generate "annexed primitives" (or however it is called) modifier to make them angry at you.

I thought it did? Or did they finally change that and the "annexed" modifier from diplo annexing? Because i seem to recall doing that and the POPs having a fit over it and thinking "wasn't the entire point of this lengthy process... that you wouldn't get angry???"

WOW, I never realized it took THAT long... dear lord...

Only for the pops that were around when you conquered them. Newborn pops afterwards lose Culture shock in 1/5 the time.

It's also worth noting that the mean time for a Bronze age civ to reach space travel is over 1000 years, and even advancing an age takes 100+ on average, so conquest is still the ideal choice if you want a pre-industrial planet.

I thought it did? Or did they finally change that and the "annexed" modifier from diplo annexing? Because i seem to recall doing that and the POPs having a fit over it and thinking "wasn't the entire point of this lengthy process... that you wouldn't get angry???"

They weren't angry the last time I did it, so I assume yes.

I would say 2 or 3 generations.
Which is about 60~80 years. In the game it would take between 20 and 10 years (I don't know the exact definiton of Early Space Age).
This is the same thing with enlightenment. For a Bronze Age society, it seems it needs about 500 months, so about a generation or two. Just 40 years to get from the Bronze Age to Space Age.

So no it's not too long. I would even argue that it's too short, but since it still needs to be usable and enjoyable, I can understand what it's that short

With the current political climate and state of the world?

I would accept our new alien overlords with arms wide open tbh.
