Do AI nations gain anything by insulting me?

It's particularly weird when I play France and an OPM gets all cocky.

I feel they're just making it easier for me, so I was thinking maybe they actually are getting something out of it (prestige, I don't know)

Or is it really something that's designed to be abused?

I typically figure it's this, and the AI didn't want to take a stab hit to avoid insulting me.

no no, these are manual insults from clicking on "send insult" in the diplomacy screen. motivated by missions added in I think 1.2

The AI is scripted to end an insult whenever it's attitude switches to hostile/outraged. Next time you get an insult, check the attitude of the country. 9/10, it's that.

It really bothers me that they do it while we are at war, and I cannot return the favor.

This is often my experience. I just respond with a 'no thanks' and go about my merry way. :happy:

In my experience finding the CB is rarely a problem when you want one. It doesn't take as long as fabricating a claim, but it also doesn't give you the claim, just a chance to wage war.
