the morkinskinna and heimskringla each contain descriptions of olaf which kind of corroborate each other, which id figure makes them reasonably reliable even if theyre a good century removed from his lifetime. viable enough for constructing a portrait for him i think
in the morkinskinna he is described as tall and fair, with pale skin and pretty eyes. the heimskringla describes him stout, handsome, and long-limbed, also taking care to mention his blonde hair, pale skin, and pleasing eyes. the both describe his limbs as being well-proportioned, so even with the heimskringla describing his limbs as long, i think they were long in a way that fit the rest of him, corroborating the fact that the dude was tall. a tall, stout dude, with blonde hair and pale skin, vaguely handsome with big purdy eyes would generally sum up how he should look. might wanna give him the comely trait too just to kind of drive it home
in terms of personality, they both describe him as generally taciturn and silent, not given much to speeches, but also quite personable and social at feasts or drinking parties or whatever. not sure how youd represent that, honestly - maybe gregarious, but with a low-ish base diplomacy? hes also described as being quite a gentle guy, and his activities wrt accepting the authority of the church speak of a sort of humbleness, so maybe his three personality traits ought to be compassionate, humble, and gregarious, though theres arguments for making him temperate or zealous as well. not SUPER certain what his education trait ought to be, but in his lifetime he displayed a shrewd mind toward realm management, centralising the power of the monarch and instituting a system of guilds in norway, so perhaps a tier 3 stewardship education would suit
i realise you gotta be kind of ruthless in deciding who should get a unique and predetermined appearance and who should probably just be left to the checksum to randomise, otherwise the dna files would just get way too bloated or something, but i think since this guy is so closely related to a fate of england bookmark character, hes worth considering. i mean, we have a lot more to go off of for him than we do for his brother magnus, so we might as well use whats there, right?
ill have a go at constructing a portrait for the guy when my exams are over and ill post it to this thread, unless i dont. would encourage others to have a try and post it here, partially as inspiration for the dev team but primarily just because its kind of fun to sculpt a mans and show him off online, you know how it is
