I think Paradox won't make dlc's for this game. They are currently working on EU4.:)

There are several different teams at paradox so if they were going to do dlc it would not interfer with EUIV development.

The US didn't quite lose; it was a draw (the treaty was a "white peace" in Paradox terms). Though the US did get pretty steamrolled in the beginning. Also it was forgotten because much larger and more important wars followed it: the Civil War, WWI, and WWII.

A white peace doesn't mean that nobody lost. The USA as the attacker failed to achieve their goals and were defeated in several major battles as well as getting the white house burned down, that is a loss if you ask me.

A mod would also be welcome. I certainly wouldn't compare it to a World War etc., it was a regional conflict but it was significant for the two nations, and again just think this is such a perfect engine for it. Maybe I should learn how to do mods? lol

To be honest, the War of 1812 was very interesting, culturally, sociologically, etc.

It wasn't anything unique in terms of warfare, etc, though.

At least, in my opinion.

People are also forgetting:
-You could have ended up with the British invading Louisiana if it wasn't sold.
-New England considered succeeding from the Union over the war and was negotiating a separate peace treaty during the war with the British. It's the reason why they show up as a potential revolter in Victoria 2.
-Tecumseh and the Natives could have had their on modern nation made during the war in and around the American side of the Great Lakes.
-This could all isolate the US horribly from its current west coast.
-Haitian Revolution happened relatively recently and there was the threat that a slave revolt could spread to Southern US and Jamaica.
-French tried to re-invade Haiti to reclaim it and their lost money.
-Wars of independence throughout the Americas.
-Portuguese monarchy moved themselves and their capital to Brazil.

All in all lots was happening at this time in the Americas and there is no need to make the game British/American conflict centric. It could make an interesting theatre conflict although the real question is what quality it could be done with in comparison in Europe.

With the current AI, I seriously doubt Britain would be capable of fighting off the US or that you wouldnt see Brazil landing in Spain and taking over. We need to take in account that most of those nations would be isolated from one another because of GB's naval dominance. Not to mention that it would totally ruin the game if the US became the land and naval dominant power because all of its objectives are located in America, forcing say France to invade the US to take them down a peg to achieve victory which isnt really feasible(Your troops would run out of supplies in the current version of the game and land incapable of fighting) The current system lies in someone getting European domination, if they are going to make an entire sideshow of all the conflicts occuring in the napoleonic wars, they might as well make Victoria III and start it in 1789. People shouldnt forget this is a 20 $ game that is meant to focus on the Napoleonic Wars in Europe. 1812 did happen at the same time but the scale of the conflict simply does not match the great deployment of troops seen in Europe. The game wasnt designed for those sort of conflicts. Beside, while Paradox hasnt really released any games taking place between 1789-1835(aside from Napoleon's ambitions) it doesnt mean we have to stretch this game into something it isnt meant to be. If Napoleon can't throw a fit at it and then proceed to invade, it should remain out of the game.
Someone is sure to make a mod of it but why waste time on a dlc only Canadians and Americans really care for in a game that is meant to be about Europe.

I know it would take some major changes because it's so far back in time but I think the Seven years war has a ton of potential. You would have to maybe redo the idea system but you could keep the coalition system, expand the map to include the Americas, maybe even further east like India too. Create a diplomatic system for dealing with Indians, make them more adept at ambushing smaller forces or interfering with supply lines behind an invading army.

I'd like to see a period from the early or mid 1700s up to and including the current time period in MOTE. Lots of interesting stuff, there, especially considering the map is focused on Europe.

It would sell like hotcakes that's for sure. Maybe this engine will be used for many conflicts and sort of be like a subsidiary series for Paradox. Kind of like AGEOD does with all its games. Paradox having a line of pure wargames sounds like it can break into that market!

I agree. I would definitely be interested in similar conflicts of the time period. While other competetors have offered various games to this venue such as the Total War series; I believe Paradox offers a different experience.

They should probably make another game at this point. Especially since MOTE is only 20 $. Surely a 1700-1789 game would sell a lot if it includes the entire world. Or maybe a game with several campaigns happening between 1700-1870 that last for the duration of the war +3 years or so. You could have the war of spanish sucession, the 7 years war, the revolution, the american revolution, the war of 1812, the franco prussian war, etc. THen again, we do have Europa Universalis 3 covering half of that and Victoria covering 1836 and onward.

Although the War of 1812 has many cinematic moments, they wouldn't translate well to a Paradox game. the fighting on the Canadian was small scale and sporadic (much like those godawful 1.2k and 2.0k stacks running around your territory in the current game). A French Revolution DLC would be much better, because it would fit within the game's current system, and instead of the French starting the game super powerful, it would be a fairly equitable arrangement for everyone (the french would have an insane manpower bonus because of revolutionary nationalism)

A white peace doesn't mean that nobody lost. The USA as the attacker failed to achieve their goals and were defeated in several major battles as well as getting the white house burned down, that is a loss if you ask me.

Technically, the reason we went to war was to stop impressment and that did end (we just didn't know it ended before we declared war) so we achieved that goal. And I could say the same thing about British Forces--three invasions repulsed, rather embarrassing defeats to a country that was essentially a disunited backwater with no military to speak of before the war, and as Russia in 1812 showed burning the Capital really doesn't do anything to win a war. And at the very least, the Indians lost their last ally in North America which was a huge victory for the United States in the long run.

I don't understand why people are saying the War of 1812 is boring
In other threads on the forum are people complaining that one of the most tedious parts of MotE now is chasing around tiny 2K stacks from province to province.

An 1812 DLC would be nothing but chasing around a couple of 2K stacks on a map two or three times the size of the entire Europe map.

+1 for this comment.

-2 for suggesting we ought to be paying for game localization.

So, overall, you're still negative. Think carefully on the matter of Redemption, Stephen.
