If you look at the HOI3 DLC on steam, you'll notice it's just all music and sprites. Will DLC for HOI4, hopefully, add things like custom tech trees and etc... Instead of just sprites?

Assuming eu4 style. They would have dlc focusing on certain areas or mechanics with model packs and music packs to go with them. The dlc would most likely include tech trees, tho the free update with the dlc may include it.

There were definitely more sprite packs than I could count (well, not quite, but quite a few!), but we also had Semper Fi, For the Motherland and Their Finest Hour (I'm pretty sure in that order, but my memory isn't great, check the release dates on Steam to be sure), which were all substantial (and for HoI3, pretty much necessary) expansions. One look at the CK2 and EU4 DLC lists suggests we should expect a similar approach to HoI4, which I don't mind (better to charge those that want the sprites rather than everyone, and deffo want the game to get ongoing development a la the new PDS model).

Everyone forget about the old games like HOI 3 and HOI 2. Paradox did a rework on how they make these games, and thus model packs and music was born. They are generally cheap and never cost that much though. But so many models pack can cause people to look cautios when buying this game.

Well, yeah. But my point was that there are always tons of model and music DLC's.
Fair enough, but I was more talking about the ratio of model and music DLCs to gameplay expansions, of which newer paradox games seem to have a higher proportion of gameplay expansions.

Ah yes you're right. Hoi4 will hopefully follow this new ratio. I am guessing paradox has more money now and thus can put money into their current games rather than release new ones every 2 years.
