DLC or expansion packs?

So I see everyone keeps talking about DLC and how Paradox/CO will be releasing DLC for this game, but what about expansion packs? DLC usually includes a few new items to enhance the game while not changing much but expansion packs usually add a lot of new items that enhance the gameplay and create more to do. DLC is cheaper, but I feel like expansion packs could be more useful for a lot of ideas, like transportation, seasons/disasters, etc which justify the higher cost.

For example: DLC could offer new environments to create, but an expansion pack could offer that plus seasons and disasters.

Will there be expansion packs or only DLC that adds smaller increments to the game? I wouldn't mind waiting a couple of months between expansion packs if we get more stuff than in DLC. I know some DLC would be free so I'm not talking about that; I'm talking about the ones that won't be free.

"DLC" means downloadable content. Expansion packs fit under that, although in some circumstances it is helpful to distinguish between cosmetic DLC, expansion packs and bullshit DLC.

I don't see much, if any, difference between DLC and expansion packs. To me, they're one in the same.

I consider DLC small collections of stuff that add a few cosmetic changes to the game. Expansion packs add that and new gameplay. The Sims, for example, does this; they have DLC packs as well as expansion packs.

Their going be DLC but not so much mini dlc's as their past games I think they were going to do a bit larger ones.

I hope they do. This game could expand so much with proper DLCs/expansion packs.

Hehehe. I don't have a problem with that DLC or Expansion Pack. Now The game is still pre order. First. Just make sure this game got have a good respond when you all playing it.

Normally I think that Paid DLC is for things that only some people want or if it's not really that necessary (like seasons, disasters...) Free DLC should mostly be for things that really affect gameplay in a way where it almost has to be in the game, but wasn't out before or if it's just not worth paying for (like day/night cycle, bigger farms...)

Considering modding, I would expect mainly expansion DLC rather than cosmetic one.
After all, why buy few cosmetic changes when modders could do that allowing you to find thousand of cosmetic things.

I'm expecting only new features as part of DLC for this game.
