I'm surprised that nobody mentioned China yet. Did I miss something and it had beed declared a taboo topic or something?

I believe its because in the popular imagination Imperial China with its administrative system would be hard to get in as well as that China would be totally overpowered if they could throw their own weight around the map. Only the Abbasids would, in my estimation, have a decent chance to just hold off the Chinese in a system where logistics may not be all that detailed and which won't offer sufficient reason to not throw massive armies to overwhelm pretty much any opposition. Not to mention all the literally thousands of extra characters that China would bring for the game to handle.

But yes, China would be interesting, but it seems that it would need alot work to, well, work and so far the devs seems to have focused on getting feudal Europe done right before they go further.

I believe that a proper China and Eastern Asia expansion is possible, after the previous DLCs have laid the ground for work. I'm thinking of an Imperial bureaucratic government type, if already added in a Byzantine update, or something. I would use a Mandate of Heaven-style regional innovation that gives access to Imperial government to larger realms and giving powerful cbs for conquest inside the de jure area of China (so it could be united in a relatively short time after breaking), while making conquests outside of China much harder

Why not both?
I'd love both, I just mean that if working on China would postpone implementing much easier Japan and Indonesia, I'd prefer to have them separate and already playable while work on China continues.

so their would just be a massive empty void in the middle of the map separating Japan, Indonesia and Korea with the rest of the world? what would the point of that be.
Not a void, just an AI-only power.

I would prefer they put a lot of effort into it and get the entire region in, or not bother at all with the region, you can't have just a small part of the region.

Instead of listing what I want as DLCs I´ll state what I don't want as payed DLC, which is easy: Changes to the game core, for example warfare, trade and laws.

Why? Look at CK2 conclave. It overhauled law- system and caused the gane to have forked core. Forked functionality means 2x time for all future changes in the area and is obviously bad generally and specially in core!

If devs want to change theese areas, they should instead bring the core changes in free in the patch and tie in DLC content in to surrounding mechanisms.

What I want as DLC:
Playable governmentforms
Flavour
M&M

I think Paradox are going for a more Stellaris style DLC structure for CK3: Free patch with all the core changes and additions + DLC with enchancements, flavour etc.
So the Conclave example will probably be avoided

I think we could keep expectations on unlanded or umm, "gentry" play down a bit. Remember what feudal contracts first looked like? Landed play is already suffering.

Let's see what Paradox would dish out for a court of landed nobles before expecting a court of unlanded bureaucrats.

Except they had nothing to do with the medieval old world. Indonesia, Swahili states, Zimbabwe? Sure, they were part of the Indian Ocean trade route and the already playable Indian rulers could be interested in maintaining their interests there. Japan, sure, because it was feudal and very CK-esque. But I don't see how Americas could be relevant for the gameplay. I'm willing to accept Greenland due to Viking settlement and potential cool interaction with Innu, but anything more west could be handled via offmap events such as "Skrælings stole our drakkar and now their adventurer came to loot us".

I wouldn’t mind introducing Native Americans to CK2 but I don’t care if they don’t either. I also don’t think they would do it until very late in the dev cycle.

Native Americans showing up in Greenland (if added) or at Icelanders' courts could be nice, I'm only opposed to adding American landmass. Playing as Viking or Mande explorer on new continent could be interesting, as well as invading Siberia as Tlingits, but I'm afraid such expansion would dramatically affect the performance. Old world should be prioritized, leave converting Aboriginal Australians to Buddhism or installing a Navajo on Japanese throne for CK4.

We will see where it goes. It’s hard to imagine that territory is a priority for them. Vikings fighting Aztecs would be pretty fun though.

I'll quote myself from another thread. Basically an Al-Andalus/Reconquista DLC, which dives into the intricacies of society in the western part of the Muslim world, and giving the player the ability to affect social change in them.

I actually think that the region has potential for its own DLC about Al-andalus culture and politics on one side, and the Reconquista on the other. It should be something like this:

-There should be two separate cultures for Maghrebi and Andalusian Muslims. Most Muslim courtiers and counties should be "Berber" and "Mozarab" at the early start dates, belonging to non-arabic culture groups, and switch to "Maghrebi" and "Muladi" (in the arab group) in the later dates.

-If you start playing in the earlier date, you should be able to influence this evolution, creating societies with more or less Iberian or Amazigh influence depending on the degree of Arabization that takes place following your decisions.

-Event chains relating to the enfranchisement of the Mozarab/Muladi population. At any start date, Muladies should only be enabled to hold city titles, up to the county level. If you want to make a society that values its local Muslim population, you should be able to take decisions that empower them, taking opinion hits and other penalties in exchange of some bonuses. Maybe very competent commanders, event armies, extra levies, or whatever.

-A Muslim ruler with fully enfranchised Mozarabs/Muladies should get the decision to change the culture of his children, and depending on which direction he chose concerning arabization, the realm could get an "Arab heritage" or "Latin heritage" with whatever flavory implication the devs see fit.

-An analogous path could be open for Sicily, and maybe even Crete and Cyprus.

I propose to expand disasters from diseases to all sorts of other things. Cyclones and Hurricanes for India and West Africa. Floods and droughts. Sprinkle some avalanches, earthquakes and volcano eruptions, then we're ready to go.
What about an optional setting, turned off by default, that allows Meteorites, which would basically make that region unable for the rest of the game

Obviously a joke

Excavating "sky iron" should present opportunities for a better custom-made weapon. At least, I think so.

  • More government types! Byzantine Empire, Florentine Republic and the Holy Roman Empire should all have vastly differing political structures.
  • More regional flair! Having England and Poland abstracted under similar feudal system is probably fine, but ideally it should still feel like a different world when you are playing in either region.
  • More love for the peasants! In CK2 peasants basically only exist for you to mow down their rebellions every few decades. I don't have any specific ideas on how to make them more visible, but surely not having any real game play representation from >95% of the population isn't ideal.
  • Late medieval expansion! I feel like this part of the game was really neglected in CK2, which tended to focus more and more on pre-1066 era as time went on. Having the late game be something worth looking for would be a game changer for me.
