Not as strait foreward. Balance is at play here: England still has the power of washing everyone off the isles with their men walking on waves. The straight of Gibraltar would be a one-sided invitation for the iberians to eat the Barbaryan pirates much more consistently. Arrrgh ya scallywags ain't got respect fo true pirate-history? I would prefer to delete transports from the game to help the AI to do proper naval landings, but if we get straits instead, well, we'll see how that turns out.

That's 10%, it's not nothing. I assume the development of the provinces that were reduced in scope has also been reduced to compensate.

Seems a bit weird they only added 2 provinces in the hole french region ... remember when they did Germany, Italy and Iberia they added tons of provinces.

Unless they have significantly improved naval AI, this change is the death of AI England. All it takes is one French doom stack to slip over past a distracted blockade fleet and that's game over for them.

If the idea is to make England a 'player' in continental Europe, they've gone about it the wrong way.

Even better, ya the travel time from London to Kent in game is only a few days with a decent commander, a enemy will be movement locked in that time, allowing England a very secure position.

Not sure if a Channel strait is a good idea, but it certainly gives England a big incentive to keep (and fortify?) Calais.
