DLC and Mods do not appear in launcher

This is starting to get really frustrating for me

I've moved my Steam directory to a different area, which does not require administrator access, but the game still doesn't want to see the DLC. I've also set ck2game.exe to run as administrator, and ck2.exe to run as administrator. Any help with this would be very, very appreciated. Either a work-around to disable Sunset Invasion, or just help with getting my launcher to work again.

Please try installing:

First: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=5555

After that: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=8328

Then: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35
(If that doesn't do anything then http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8109 )

Then: visit the Windows Update site and allow it to apply all .NET updates/patches it wants to, for all .NET versions.

Then right-click on ck2.exe and ck2game.exe and set them to run as the Admin user.
And then check if you can run the game after that.

Still does not work, and also fully re-installed the game. No differences, still having the problem.- Moving Steam didn't seem to help either, did it twice. Also, it's only the Crusader King's launcher that seems to be having problems. Everything else works perfectly fine. EU4, Victoria, and HOI work fine.

I've got a work-around by creating a shortcut to CK2.exe, and launching it from there, and disabling Sunset Invasion. But I'd like my launcher to work again, so if anyone has a solution please let me know.

When you say "... my launcher to work again", it used to work? What change or update caused it to first fail?

Are the DLC files actually in the DLC folder?

Same problem here after updating from Win 8.1 Preview to Pro. I used to have the same problem under the preview, but updating my graphics driver fixed it -- not so this time. The previous driver doesn't work either. EU4 seems to be working fine.

Edit: trying out several older drivers and restarting the computer worked.

It used to work, now it doesn't. Dunno what patched changed that. And yeah, they are in the DLC folder.

I run Windows 7. I've done all of those things, aswell.

I notice your Launcher does not say "v1.1" down the bottom-right corner, I suspect it has not actually updated. But you say you've reinstalled; did that include manually deleting all old files after the uninstall, before starting the reinstall process?

Do you happen to use COMODO Internet Security or other antivirus suite? Try adding ck2game.exe to trusted list. Same thing happens to me whenever CK2 update.

Yes. I've deleted the old files in the install, and my documents..

That must be the date of installation, damn. Mine from 2.0 is 26,624 bytes , so if yours matches that then it's the right one.

In a browser on this same machine please go to www.paradoxplaza.com/in-game/ck2/launcher.html - that's where the content of the Launcher comes from. It really should say 2.0 there; if not you've got some local machine or network problem, where the old version is cached somewhere or something.

The launcher shows that page. It's only a problem with the actual parts underneath, the Mods and DLC area.
And yeah, it's the right one. I dunno what the issue is here, although I am getting a new computer soon so this hopefully won't be an issue.

Launcher is working again for me now. Aside from random chance, the only 2 things which happened were running it as an administrator and running it from the desktop shortcut.

Getting a new PC soon so hopefully this won't be a problem.. Maybe the new patch fixed it, weird...
Anyway consider this unresolved, closed though because I won't be looking anymore. If someone does have a good solution though, make sure it gets here so if other people have to problem, it can be fixed...

Full reformatting of my hard-drive worked, it was an issue with my computer. That fixed it, count this as resolved!
